Well, here's where they play with official prices
Microsoft controls its prices - much like Apple. Hence the net amount you have to pay for the Surface Pro is similar to buying if off the shelf.
HP, Dell and many other brands have a suggested retail price, but how much they will be priced at the store-front will be a different matter altogether. There's enough price difference that retailers can offer discounted prices at the store and call it a sale when compared to SRP figures. This headway allows them to pursue the seemingly endless sales from one week to another.
In the case of Singtel, they can probably leverage an even better price as they bulk order a quantity for this campaign. That's why, both HP and Dell are end up to be much cheaper than the actual SRP. Of course even if you factor in the store discounted pricing, Singtel's offer for these 2 notebooks are really good and I think they are subsidizing a fair bit for us consumers (or they just struck a really good deal). What remains to be seen is if we can get such nice deals in the future

Singtel is trying to be funny. The HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 is worth $1,499 and require a top up of $35 a month. The Microsoft Surface Pro 128GB with Type cover is worth $1,511 but requires a top up of $55 a month. There's just a difference of $12 between the HP ENVY and Surface Pro but we'll have to pay $480 more for the Surface Pro![]()

. Was thinking to buy and sell to make my monthly subscription cheaper
