I received expensive brand ties as gifts and the quality isn't as good as the artisan ties. No where near. The cheaper ties in the malls uses inferior materials.

If Vanda and Hober is beyond your budget, I recommend Tie Bar and Knottery when they are having sales. They are still better quality than any of the mall ties and much wider choice of design.

Ps: i am hopeless with tie and ps matching haha

Agreed fully with both that you mentioned. Regarding matching, I think its boils down to alot of trial and errors. Playing with patterns and shades helps to keep the harmony while allow us to experiment with colors.

E.g. Maroon patterened tie with a cherry red pocket square (tone on tone)
E.g. Navy tie with a deep-green pocket square (contrast)

If in doubt, just match it with white, nicely folded. Always works.

No worries bro, we all start somewhere.

also tbh, most women don't care how you dress, as long as you clothes fit and you look somewhat good. sometimes just wear tee shorts and cap still can get a girl's # :s13:

How conclusive your statement is, I have no idea. But I think to some extent, ladies do notice certain items, for e.g. shoes/bags/accessories.

Supplemented this with some random sampling, and results were pretty much on track.

went down to personality today, extremely disappointing! The shirt he made for me was too tight and when I sit down the shirt bunches up.

The owner, eric, said that it's because i requested slim and his other customer even ask for a even slimmer cut before. complete bull**** argument, just because someone ordered something slimmer, what does that even have to do about the shirt not fitting properly.

went to several shops in peninsular and i have always requested slim, and this is the first time i'm experiencing this problem. said it's not gonna fit and he said next time he can add one inch to the sides. WTF? NEXT TIME? THEN THE $95 HOW? because this eric guy didnt give any allowance on the shirt, once its too tight his not gonna be able to fix it.
brought the shirt to a next door tailor and he said its definitely too tight.

please avoid Personality on level 3 peninsula, went there because i read a few good reviews and decided to try something new, complete regret.

"Next time try again" is customer say, not for tailor to say. He should redo till it fits, even at a loss because is his mistake in taking the measurements. Not asking for a perfect fit but at least must be able to put on.

This may sound wrong but when a gentlemen learns to dress up, more often then not the ladies will just take notice but will not appreciate the fine details. Its like you are just a well groom person to them that wears nice looking clothes.

Of course I agree, but we don't always dress up right? don't tell me because you aren't dressed up you cannot flirt with the opposite gender.

Also, I said "as long as your clothes fit (properly) and as long as you look somewhat good (being confident in your own skin)

IME I think confidence is the best asset. Coupled that with good grooming and clothing and you have a winner. :)

Seriously the ladies in SG are more concerned about your 5cs than what you are wearing today. Hope no offence to the sisters here in the forum for this broad sweep statement.
Yup, but that's only if they want something long-term. I'm still young, so I'm not really committing to anyone atm. In fact didn't really spend alot on last 2 exes, I probably spend more on my clothing and drinks than women. Basically, short-term flings for women = physical attraction (well-groomed and dressed) > money. YMMV.

Haha the Art of Picking Up is beyond my knowledge and deserves a separate discussion thread on its own.

I just enjoy spending time to groom and dress up for the sake of wasting time. Its like a hobby to me.

I never seen CT anywhere in Singapore before leh? Vivo got meh?

But the poor quality TM.L shirts are everywhere, their fit is very good. but the shirt quality is like table cloth and the franchise owner is known for super rip off prices.

BBros is slightly better quality but the I cant fit into their slim and classic is way too loose. And very expensive in SG. My suggestion is you can go boutique try the size and wait for Father's day or Boxing day sale online.

Sacoor have an outlet in IMM. Fit is good, fabric is decent and is cheap. 135 for 3 shirts. But very limited designs. Their silk ties are nice, solid colors, office wear staple, 36 each.

Uniqlo occasionally have quality fabrics. Fit is so so. Sale prices is good. Good enough for casual wear.

In summary, RTW in Singapore is overpriced most of the time. Support your tailor.

Ya, Sacoor @ IMM prices are ok. To pay full retail is daylight robbery!!

Bangkok for 4 days. Shirts and pants only, no jackets. Recommendations?

Know Milan suit, Tailor on ten and crown Tailor only. Any of these are rip offs for the different prices they charge? Time factor too.

Side question. Who tailors for women?

Yes, the store is pretty $#!$ed up, what kind of tailor doesn't allow room for adjustment? I completely understand that its quite unlikely for them to get it right the first time, but to not allow adjustments?? *sigh*

Bro, did you pay the $95 by cash, NETS or credit card?

If you paid by credit card, try calling the issuing bank and do a charge back.

paid by cash, my friend recommended me to use the lemon law but nt too sure how effective that will be.

oh well, best i can do now is to warn others if they plan to visit personality @ peninsula

^Portuguese girls?

Ok I know where to check out for next shopping trip. :D

Their Sales Assistants are local staff but they have ~4 managers who are the Portuguese girls. Also will have a guy playing live music (too loud for a small shop). They serve coffee too.

I hear the KL shop is much bigger and better organised. Their in house alterations tailor there is also a Portuguese lady.

That is why, you pay a premium for shopping at the retail outlet.

My friend and I tried them last year during their trunk in SG, and it was really disappointing. Average stitching and finishing, I tried 2 shirts, one coming from their higher shirting range, the color ran during my first wash and the entire shirt was render unwearable.

Opted for the MOP buttons, and it came in thin, pathetic ones. Total damage was approximate S$200++ :( Have seen found other shirt makers and never looked back since.

Ladies who are into fashion at least and who take notice of what men wear in fashion magazines, will notice. But different women like different things. Some may like brainy guys, and don't really care how the guy dresses as long as clean, neat and presentable. Others (like socialites) will definitely want someone good looking who dresses very well and has money.

Yikes! Thanks for posting your experience. I was thinking of trying them somewhere down the road in Bangkok but guess not.

BTW all, I think they will charge you for DHL shipping to Singapore, and not sure how much that will cost. Also, consider that if something doesn't fit well, you may have to pay for shipping back to them for alteration, and their shipping back to you.

I agree that Sacoor is a brand to look out for, and their outlet has some really good stuff, but it moves pretty quick so really have to fast hands fast legs.
