Hi,
I failed econs and M1/S1.
So was wondering if someone could give recommendations.

Intending to take POA and OTIA and 2 other mods.
Maybe POM and HRM.
Since failing the 2 has given me limited choices.
Are the 2 manageable/easy to pass?

If not what othermodules do you recommend from the E/M selection group?

I'm from e& m btw, thanks.

hi all, got a couple of qns to ask. i'm a year 1 b&f student and i failed pbf and maths 1. so my choices in choosing modules are very limited, which leaves me with only some other electives for year 2 and 4 main cores in year 3 (cf, macro, fi & im) - since i failed my cores so i have no choice but to take those in year 3.

so, i was thinking of switching to business (since it doesn't require pbf). my qns are:

1) if switch course (from b&f to business - because business don't have pbf) need to pay any fees? if i took up a bank loan for sch fees then do i need to pay again for the new course or can continue paying for the remaining modules which i have already taken from my current loan? (i find it quite illogical if i need to repay for a entire new course again but unsure though)

2) is there such a thing as co-take modules? like for example i failed maths, can i take another module which requires maths at the same time?

3) if i really changed to business, my year 2 mods will be psoc, ibm, maths (resit), e-biz and ma. total 5 mods. u guys think this is okay?

4) my friend still suggested me not to change course. but if i really stay on as b&f, i will have to take pbf (resit), maths (resit), psoc, e-biz, hrm and maybe marketing. total 6 (or 5.5 to be exact) mods. is the combination ok? or should i take 5 in year 2, 5 in year 3?

5) assuming if i stay on as b&f, can i not go to the failed mods lectures? as in is there such thing as self-study and not plan into timetable?

6) if u're in my situation, will u stay on as b&f or switch to business?

thank you guys for your help in advance! really meant a lot to me. thanks!

1) I think you can continue to pay because even you switch cost you still have certain modules cleared so you are not really starting on a brand new course.

2) if you are looking at those modules that has maths 1 as pre-requisite, you are not allow to take. You need to clear them first before you are allowed to take them. Unless, that module allows you to choose either using Maths 1 or another module for its pre-requisite.

3) if year 2 mods be psoc, ibm, maths (resit), e-biz and ma.
Reconsider putting PSOC and IBM together. I am a business final year student myself. The 2 modules might be core for business but the content to study for exams is crazy.

4) it really depends what you want to do in the future and what you like to study. If you are not a essay person and studying all theory papers for exams, you might find it very taxing.
5 mods for year 2 and 5 mods for year 3. Assuming you clear all will be good. If not you will need another year because final year, you are only allowed to take 5 new modules.
For marketing and eBiz, there are some similar chapter so you might not have to study so much for exams but need to be careful during exams in case, you mixed them up.

5) Yes, you can choose to do self-study and just pay for exams. If you choose to repeat and attend class, then it will be half price.

6) well, stay in B & F first, there must be a reason why you choose that instead of business in the first place.

Last year it was:

Monday : Audit
Tues: FM
Wed: FR
Thurs: ME/MA

Plan wisely ba. If you cramp your core mods in year 2, it'll be super tough, but if all goes to plan, your year 3 should be more relaxed.

If things dont go your way, touch wood, you can dabao to year 3.

All the best :)

Hi all from uol sim,

first of all congrats to all who passed and moving on. To those who didn't do well this year, there's always a second chance for you to score well in the upcoming AY.

I'm starting AnF 2nd year this sept. Got a couple of queries to ask. Hope for your advice.

1) I've heard some seniors saying CF is for BnF and FM is for AnF, while some AnF people took CF as they say it's easier to score. Some also say CF and FM not much of a difference. May I know which module to take this year and why do people say CF is for BnF and FM is for AnF.

2) I'm planning to take micro, audit, MA & CF/FM. Would this combination be too hard to cope? Or should I take FR & MA as what other people in this thread recommends?

Hope for your kind advices and good luck for the upcoming AY :)

If I get 2 mods 50, 4 mods 40, 1 mod 34 marks under the old regulations, and I left with 2 mods, is it still possible to get second lower? I don't understand how to calculate the classes in the handbook :s11:

I'm left with last 2 modules for 3rd year, seniors can recommend which subject more useful and not that difficult to score?

LBO
Audit
FR
FM
FI
HRM

Thanks in advance!

Hi there! From what I heard, audit is easy to pass. Scoring wise I think should be okay to score 40 plus at least? and I think the whole audit module is very interesting. Personally took audit for my final year for the previous semester!! Miss chu is the best lecturer ever! Haha.

Oh! And I took FR last sem too! Was really torturous during the exam period as there are soooo many things to know for both calculation and essay wise. But somehow, i find the module quite interesting too. something like POA, but a much tougher version of POA. scoring wise..cannot depend on calculations only as quantitative qnses stands for major portion of the marks! My lecturer was mr Jabbar. He tends to focus more on calculations and kinda of too little emphasis on essay part so I need to read study guide for essay content. But he is humorous. Quite enjoyed his lessons.

Hello, need some advice from u guys!
I'm from biz and i failed intro to econs:( Was wondering if I should retake.
I'm intending to take MA, Audit, FR, FM, MSM, MM, SOCIO & POM in yr 2/3. As you can see, these mods do not require econs except POM.
In order to take POM in yr 3, I have to pass SOCIO. If not will have to retain for 1 yr. I'm pretty worried bt this as I suck at essay writing. So should I retake?
If yes, any seniors out there who can advise on the procedure of retaking as a private candidate and how much does it cost (like examination fees and any other additional cost)?
TIA for your inputs!:)

1) to take POM, u must pass EITHER intro to econs OR soci.

2) i don't understand what u meant by "i should retake". for any failed mods, u MUST retake the following year. it's a requirement and you can't escape it.

3) what u meant by taking as a private candidate? so far i havent heard of such a case.

Can anyone tell me how is math 2 & stats 2 like? Is it tough to score/pass for m2 & S2? Thanks!!

M2 and S2 easy to pass, hard to score
S2 for me, I just do all the past exam paper, the method to calculate is the same

For M2, I not sure about u but I won't take meena as lecturers.
The only lecture that I will fall asleep.
Got some accent. while trying to solve the questions, I have to solve what she saying

This sounds just like me! I failed PSOC in 1st year too.
I think you can take POM in year 2, 2 quantitative and 2 qualitative better?

Ebiz easy to score too.

Hey, thanks. What does Ebiz stands for? I looked at this page and could not identify it straight away...
One 200 or 300 course (or two half courses) from any Selection group | University of London International Programmes

4:32am
ok just looked again. think i've found it. e-business? thanks for the head up. I've always felt home when I can choose modules under IS group since my IT background is a bit stonger than economics. Thanks alot.

From what I know, MM has change the format of the paper and therefore many of them cannot finish the paper in the given 3 hours. If you good in essay, the ESAP can be alternative.
Another easy to score will be EBiz .

EBiz is about the hardware and software of IT. No programming involved, we will studied about how IT can help the organisation and how is the structure of the IT within the organisation. It's more on how business to business works and how business to consumers works. As long as you study, it's a rather easy module to clear.

Hey, thanks alot for all the info. Ebiz sounds really tempting to me now since this is already 2nd mentioning merely by tonight. I do have a bit of IT background(learnt computing in JC, scored on one of the 100 course[ICSAP], some intro to IT module to the computing course people it seemed) But from what you mentioned, this module seems to be more about the study of the business world and technical stuff are less of interest?

Hello I wanna ask something! I'm going to second year, and have 6 more modules for the 2 years (due to exemptions). Am I allowed to take 3 modules per year? Or will I die die be forced to take 4 modules for my 2nd year?

Hi, I am having the same situation as you. I cleared my 3 and a half mods this year due my bridging, failed maths 1 though. So have to study for 3 years. Yes you can do that. I am actually planning to take 3 next year and another 3 for the following year. Make sure to even out the modules. For example, I will be taking cf micro and msm next year. Then fi im mm in the 3rd year. More time to study so that I can score. I am actually aiming for first class. Hope you are doing the same too!!

Cheers!

will be able to do well if you are under Ms Chu + you put in the effort. possible to score.

one thing abt FR is for their cal qns, the theory part ie qn b can be 12/13 marks. so there's no way you can escape theory.

How was it ar ? Xiong or not ? Starting year 3 in sept and I'm planning to take Audit+FR+MA but unlike you guys those are my electives. lol

(Y)

I think MA toughest among this 3 units.

Looking for NOTES / TEXTBOOKS for the following mods :

Audit

FR

and any advice in taking these mods ? ^^

took MA in yr 2, Audit and FR in yr 3.

MA toughest. FR, for their cal qns, the theory part qn b can be 12/13 marks. so there's no way you can escape theory. MA FR must prac doing qns. FR can score higher.

Audit pure theory, no cal. interesting to study. will be in safe hands under Ms Chu. possible to prepare for essay. even for case studies, the points to write abt the same, just that u need to adjust to the situation of the case studies.

Hi all.

AnF student reaching year 3 and going to decide on the last free module.
Heard MSM and MM are easy to score?
MM stands for managment math?
I've done MSM so left with one last free 200/300 module.
But I'm open to any advice, not just MM or ESAP(another I heard that is possible to score).
Just shoot me any module you find a higher rate of score/time spent for you with your reasoning.

Or possibly, there is no such thing as a higher rate of time score/time spent thing and I'm just dreaming too hard to gain without paying it. But still, I'm searching for something to complete the list. Just Recommend me whatever you feel is most suited.

yes people may feel offended, take mockery on this or whatever. But I'll face it.
Not the time for me to play the pride game and put all the pressure on. End of day, I'm probably just an average person or even worse, not smart at all. I've decided rather to be practical this time and "less is more".

Show me the public wisdom and many thanks for any advice.

you may be keen to refer to my earlier post abt MM and MSM. did a quite detailed write up abt the 2 mods.

If I get 2 mods 50, 4 mods 40, 1 mod 34 marks under the old regulations, and I left with 2 mods, is it still possible to get second lower? I don't understand how to calculate the classes in the handbook :s11:
