My RT-AC66U is use as an access point. If I set to channel 149 for 5GHz and i off the router over the night, the next morning when switch on, all my devices like phones, PCs and EA-N66 is unable to connect to RT-AC66U using 5GHz. 2.4GHz works fine. I have to set channel to auto and apply, then back to channel 149, all my devices will be able to connect. This bug occur when I use the latest firmware. Any idea where can download back to the older firmware?

RT-AC66U performance issue on M1 200Mb

Hello everyone this is my 1st posting in this forum :D

I'm seeking help to resolve an issue with this router after upgrading from M1 50Mb to 200Mb plan. On my previous 50Mb, clocking on speedtest.net local servers gives me slightly above 50up/50dn Mbps on wireless.

After my plan was upgraded to 200Mbps, clocking on speedtest, I could only achieved slightly over 90Mbps for both up and down on wireless. Connecting my laptop directly to the router's port with LAN cable yielded slightly over 100 for both directions. I am on latest firmware versions 3.0.0.4.374_130.

My initial suspicion was on M1 side so I did a double check on the new Huawei's ONT by connecting directly to it's wan port and I'm getting above 200Mbps everytime. So it's not M1 fault anymore. Btw all tests was conducted with a laptop in my living room about 4m away from the router on 5ghz band. Test was done on 2.4ghz too and performance was slightly lower.

I would be very grateful if any of you can throw some lights on my issues.

Cheers!

P/S - This is very frustrating! I don't have sufficient post counts to post any links to my router's setting pics here for diagnosis. Any suggestions to get around this?

Can you try hard reset the router?

than config all settings and restart router

and switch off all your wireless devices such as mobile/tablet/EA-N66/laptop.

during 1 step

I hard reset and reflash and hard reset after reflash. Same result. Yes, wireless already off. I need channel 149 coz surface pro cannot connect channel 36.

Hi guys,

just gotten this router and is trying to get it to connect to the internet. Could anyone teach me how to vlan tag? Singnet ask me to call Asus but they are closed.

Currently have it setup this way.

ONT -> Asus WAN port
Pace broadband port -> Asus port 3
Mio -> Asus port 4

Router is flashed to latest firmware. Or do i have to flash to Merlin firmware to enjoy vlan goodies?

Thank you very much in advance.

not need Merlin firmware.

You should also request to move your phone direct to ONT. so can get rid of that stupid PACE. :)

go to lan/iptv setting and select Singtel-MIO preset.

mine on manual but for you to select accordingly.
The tags will automatically set for you.

bro, if you are not on adsl there is no need for pppoe. its a normal wan connection.

go to Wan connection and select 'Automatic IP'

OMG you're a lifesaver. It works now after setting it to automatic(DHCP) instead of PPPOE.

Thank you very much bro!

on the non wireless side of things, is the ac66u a worthy upgrade from the 56U?
