Google is yr friend..
Quite a lengthy write, and will have many ding dong q&a. Not exciting unless it's 2 years ago.
If you don't know the answer, don't reply with **** like "go google it". It adds nothing of value, and does not make you appear smarter either.

I had tried lots of way mention around the net. But I still get redirect back to my router page whenever i type "http://ducky88.dlinkddns.com"

If you are trying to access your comp or server within the same network via the dynamic dns, you will be directed to your router page unless the router support NAT loopback.

Many routers prevent loopback connections as a security feature. This means that a machine on your local network (e.g. behind your router) cannot connect to a forward facing IP address (such as 200.149.252.83) or port of a machine that it also on your local network. Connecting to the LOCAL IP address/port (such as 192.168.0.32) of that same machine works fine.

So to test your dynamic dns settings, you have no choice other than by trying to connect to the IP via some other access method such as via your phone's 3G/4G connection (NOT WIFI!)

Which ISP are you using? Some of the local ISP block port 80. Try using some other port and see if it works first?

use a port in the five digit range to be safe. Like 12345. Any port less than 4 digits and specific ports such as 8080 are usually reserved or blocked by isps like starhub

I mean should I use which IP as port forwarding.

192.168.2.xx
or
218.186.114.xx

use your internal IP for port forwarding, i.e. 192.168.2.xx

i think you cannot use the same port for active and passive mode... try 12346~12347?
might need to port forward those ports too...

Starhub blocks port 80. ST apparently started to block it recently too. So you need to forward another port BACK TO port 80. For example, you forward for 9999 to port 80 of your router, then login using your url:9999.

This does not seem to be correct. It just seems to forward the ports directly, ie 80 to 80, 12345 to 12345, etc.

Not sure about your router, but there should be a choice to select the source port and the destination port for the port forward.

My router don't have the source port and destination port for the port forward. I'm using HW550-3G. Picture show the same as what i'm having.

This will not work. Portforwarding will forward the exact port for port, ie, 80 to 80, 12345 to 12345

Basically what you want is something that allows you to direct traffic from port 12345 to your NAS's 80 or something similar.

Different routers call it differently. D-Link calls it Virtual Server. Zhone calls it Port Remapping.

Since you are using DNS-320, and there's no such option on your router, you can consider installing fun_plug and modify the webui port for the DNS-320 admin page.

Edit: Refer to this post of mine to go about editing the port of the default webadmin page. If you need help installing fun_plug or you are not sure which are the parts relevant to you from my post, feel free to ask.

hi all, i need a bit of help here. the following is my current setup in my dns-320.

right slot: 2tb hdd
left slot: 1tb hdd
configuration: standard

i only have network shares pointing to the 1tb hdd. but i would like to upgrade the 1tb hdd to 2tb. i have a spare 1tb hdd on my pc, so to start off, i will copy everything on my left slot 1tb to my pc's 1tb (which is sufficient). i have the following questions.

1. if i were to remove the 1tb from the nas, and insert a new 2tb hdd, will it prompt me to format only the new hdd, or both 2tb hdd?

2. will the config of my network shares for the 1tb stay the same after the upgrade, since i will copy everything back to the 2tb from my pc?

thanks in advance.

Juz a quick update.. I backed up only my 1tb nas drive, and after buying a new 2tb drive, i swapped it with the 1tb in the nas.. The web admin prompted me to format and initialise the new drive, which i gladly continued. But when it was formatting, i realized the label stated was Volume_2 (which was the original 2tb drive in my nas). There i was, stumped as i thought my data (which i did not backed up) was being formatted.. But after the whole process, i did a check and found out that only the new drive was formatted (phew!). So now, i have safely transferred everything back.

This is purely my experience, and i would not recommend NOT backing up ur data, in any case.

Thanks for the update. never lose data is good. So it detects new hdd but will rename the volume? So left and right not changed volume or still right is volume 1?
Can vote for me pls
