Hmmm. Mine doesn't have dark patches but bright spots at where the LEDs are. But those only become noticeable at full lighting which I have never put at.

U know those dark patches that appear on the paperwhite.. It's happen after u put backlight till level 13

Mine's always on 14 but no dark patches. Only bright spots at 18-20. Well I guess u can call the non bright areas when the bright spots appear dark patches
With regards to the uneven lighting, there are 2 kinds. One is at the bottom; this is expected, it's how the light guides are built. Two is the rest of the screen; sometimes it does happen to a certain extent, but the majority is still quite/very good (unless it's really bad, then there's something wrong.)
The new 2013 version may not have these 'issues', remains to be seen. It's using eink technology (Carta) not seen in any product yet.

Once i have it. I will do a comparison. If not much difference then will sell off the new one.

Uhh.. no one has the new model; it's not released yet.
I saw on Amazon, it's released already for sale.

Cause the new one will be easier to sell as its brand new.. i am quite attracted to my kindle now.. we spend so much time together..
It's not released yet although you can pre-order.
Of course it's worth the money! It's the most incredible piece of personal tech anyone can have!

First get a united state address free from
1. Comgateway
2. Vpost
This will be the sending address.
Buy from amazon and ship to the united state address.
Then use either company to send it to Singapore.
Hi anyone here know how to buy latest kindle Paperwhite 2013 at Amazon JP ?
The reason i wanna buy at amazon jp is because it got 4 GB for the storage compared to US version only 2GB storage
