Not needed. They probably just correct the profile for the display model with the yellow tint.

Would like the see the updated software. As I have compared 4 different sets side by side, and all 4 show different shades of yellow, so if Sony only apply a standard colour correction, it would make the white set blue?

Actually after I went down to j8 4 times and comparing 6 sets with mine, I think my screen appears "whiter" after prolong use...

Do not need some complicated menu..

go to settings/about phone/diagostics/test device/display

It will prompt you that the phone will goes white for 10sec...
This test is suppose to see dead pixel..but its a chance to see if the screen is yellowish or..

Service menu can test white, black and all three primary colors.

It is not complicated at all, unless you are new to Sony phones.

just word of advice for those not using sp.
i took off my front sp since i was planning to get the tempered glass ones and thought it should be ok since i only put in my pockets and nothing damaging together with it.

after a few days, it had developed a weird patch on it. like more worn out than the surrounding area. if i wipe it evenly, then it's like the smudge or oil area it would buffer that area and it will look like there's no worn out patch.

and it's easy to get micro scratch too, i got 1

It seemed to be like that for Sony's screens. I had the same issue with Xperia Go. I thought its though so go without SP. Just after a week of game playing, the part most used seem to have a patch. I believe Sony uses a kind of coating on their screen. Maybe teflon or something for scratch resistance. But it sure does rub off easily. And it will look worst then having scratches.

So moral of the story, for what ever screen, be it gorilla or king kong or whatever, use SP.

Reminds me of the big hoo hah about the iphone some years back (forget which model). There were complaints about "yellowish" or discoloured screens, but they gradually whitened as time went on.

The explanation was the adhesive used for mounting the screens did not have time to "cure" before leaving the factory, thus causing the discolouration. As time went on, the adhesive did cure, and the discolouration was either eliminated or greatly reduced.

Wonder if this was the case here

Every iPhone generation has screen issues even if that means some people just aren't happy that the display in their iPhone is from a different vendor than the one from their colleague's iPhone.

Not uncommon.. Wait.. yeah.. I think teflon is used for nonstick.. Yes.. I remembered water on the Xperia Go worn off screen portion doesn't roll off as smoothly. Will see the difference as the will have way more small water droplets sticking to the portion.

In anycase, Sony surely used some coating. Glass do not rub off.. at least not that easily with skin.

AHHH.... After 2 weeks I've forgotten to root!! Can someone point me to the right method? One that works for 6833?

Finally rooted my LTE C6833 using vRoot v1.60. Easy!

See instructions from xda.

Instructions copied and pasted from XDA.

Just sucessfully rooted my ZUltra using the VRoot tool. Am running 510 fw (Singtel C6833).

Just wanted to hare my steps:
1. Connect your phone (don't forget to enable USB Debugging)
2. Open the Vroot tool, wait until it detects the phone.
3. Click on the green button on the right bottom corner of the tool (root).
4. After sucesssfully root using the VRoot (your phone will reboot), install the SuperSU from playstore.
5. Open the SuperSU app, it will ask to update binary, click ok.
6. Then open the Vroot tool once again, click the white button (unroot) on the left of the green button, hence removing the chinese superuser app.
7. After that go to SuperSU -> Settings -> Install SuperU into /system.
8. After that reboot the phone, and the SuperSU will still be there, all apps requiring root works perfectly.

Note: if you cannot find the developer options in the settings to enable USB debugging (just like I did the first time ), go to About Phone and click on the Build Number menu 7 times. That will enable the developer mode.

I think the yellowish screen is acceptable, in fact it is soothing to the eyes. Mine is just a little yellowish, have to put side by side with another set to see the difference, but in the earlier post there was a buttie that screen is too yellow already...

I think those with minor difference can wait for the sw upgrade.

Hi all,

I just got the Z Ultra yesterday(export LTE set though), but I have some questions for reading the Sony & XDA forums.

1. Has anyone's screen/back glass shatter or crack for no apparent reason so far?

2. My Update Center showed that I have the latest firmware .493(?), even though the latest fw available is .526, refreshing the Update Center does not bring up any new updates.

Therefore I resorted to using the Sony Update Service on the PC to update the firmware, which brings me to my next question. The program shows that a 740+ MB of data/firmware is to be downloaded.

However, I only have an average internet connection, and can't download the whole thing in one shot. Does the update service keep whatever progress I have downloaded for the next time I plug the phone in again?

I've installed a few apps and it's already full. Can't even receive SMS until I uninstall more apps.

I've rooted my XZU, removed all songs, videos, pictures, tried Apps2SD III and Link2SD, but both says because internal memory is emulated so it is not supported. My 64gb SDXC card sitting in the slot empty.

Anyone has any luck moving apps to SD card, can share how?


On another note, my 64gb SDXC card can only format into 32gb using Fat32, the other 32gb partition doesn't even shop up in Windows 7 Disk Management Console or Easeus Partition Master. It only recognized 64gb only when I format in XZU, but Link2SD needs 2 primary partitions and Paragon apparently doesn't work. Anyone has any luck formatting a 64gb card into 2 partitions?

For MicroSD Card, you cannot format using PC so once you got it, just slot it into your phone and it should recognize, if not, use the phone to format it.
