Dear all, I just bought a note3 after using iPhone for 5 years.
I be frank, its a whole new experience for me and I'm a very confuse on how android works. So a few questions off my head now:-

1) There's isn't a itune equivalent for android right?
2) In the apps menu, it there anyways to arrange the apps i downloaded?
3) How do I switch off running apps after I opened the apps?
4) What's the difference between play store and samsung app store?
5) How do I transfer games, videos, photos, etc to my SD card? I know by connect it to PC, but do I need to name the folders? Too used to using itune. lol
6) How do I know my apps have updates?
7) Where can I download nicer widgets?
8) I read up a bit, but what is launcher that you guys are talking about? How do I download them?
9) Is there a forum that discuss about android themes? one similar to the iOS is modmyi
10) Do I close the apps by pressing the home button? not the back button?

Phew, this it for now, and many thanks for any advice! :)

Welcome to Android community :)

U mean online music store? There's Google Play Music but cannot buy songs in SG yet

2) In the apps menu, it there anyways to arrange the apps i downloaded?
3) How do I switch off running apps after I opened the apps?
Some apps can exit via the Menu. Else you can manually shut down running apps in Settings>App Manager. Normally when you go back to home page the app is cached and shouldn't be running in background

4) What's the difference between play store and samsung app store?
Just different stores. One is Food Republic, the other is Food Junction.

5) How do I transfer games, videos, photos, etc to my SD card? I know by connect it to PC, but do I need to name the folders? Too used to using itune. lol
Plug into PC USB it will act like an external drive. You will see Phone and Card drives. The Card is the SD Card. For moving things around on the phone itself, use the File Manager app.

6) How do I know my apps have updates?
Play Store will auto alert you if there is an update to any of the apps

7) Where can I download nicer widgets?
Google around and see bah. There are free ones and paid ones. You can even make your own.

8) I read up a bit, but what is launcher that you guys are talking about? How do I download them?
Launchers are just skins to make the OS look different. There are even launchers to make you phone look like iOS :s13: Go to XDA forum and look around. Popular ones are Nova and Apex.

9) Is there a forum that discuss about android themes? one similar to the iOS is modmyi
XDA has a theme subforum for Note 3. For inspiration can check out mycolorscreen.com/

Phew, this it for now, and many thanks for any advice! :)

I disagree. Google Play is original Android app store and Samsung App is a poor copycat. No other Android OEM re-invent the wheel again. We don't need two apps store.

i beg to differ, Samsung is just setting up the stage for a Tizen app store

as Google Play would not be legally allowed to run on Tizen devices.

Ok. To each his own. I knew they are gonna undermine Google Android with their Tizen. I don't really give a damn about their OS. :s22:

If I downloaded games from my PC, how do I transfer them to my SD card?
What I mean is, should I create any specific folders or etc? :s22:

It should be a .apk file. Just copy over to a folder in the phone and run it on your phone. You'll have to allow the option to install apps from "unknown sources" in settings>security.

1) No, you do not need iTunes. You can backup contacts to gmail, transfer files as and when you like as usb storage.
2) You should ignore the app menu, the way to use android is to pick an app from the menu and drop on your "desktop" which you can arrange however you like, in folders or at any locations. Its work a bit like windows desktop if you know what i mean.
3) For samsung phones, i am not sure. Try the right most menu button? The true android interface have a right app switcher button.
4) Play store is by google and have the most app which samsung store is by samsung. Just ignore the samsung store.
5) The same way as you use any USB storage like thumbdrives, its so simple that you need to ask? Can't believe how simple it is?
6) Play store will show under my apps, you can see whether there is any update. Unlike Apple store, it does not add a number to the icon to hassle you to update the apps. You can choose to let the app auto-update whenever there is an update or you can update as and when you please.
7) Play store, just search for whatever you want.
8) Play store, just search.
9) Sorry, can't help you as not a theme person but why can't you just google? Its the most powerful search engine on earth.
10) Not sure how samsung does it, on my pure android, i close app with a flick of the finger.

You know how to use windows desktop and laptop? Yes, then you already know how to do it. iTunes is a re-invention of the wheel that just make it difficult. Now you are used to the difficult method, you don't know how to do it the simple way? :s22:

The default music player. It's showing some unrecognized characters. :(
If using the file manager, it's can show the Chinese character but not in the player.

The default Samsung music player can play unicode filenames. I have Chinese and Korean music filenames and all no problem.
