actually, for a non-air con bedrm, wat type of mattress is most comfortable? i heard foam type will trap a lot of heat, rite?

well so long as it is comfortable to you, is okay for you.

NO such thing as a cooling bed. Please do not believe all the nonsense brands are saying.

ZERO logic and ZERO substance.

in marketing terms = Cooler = more money can earn from people who believe.

That is the simple break down.

My ultimate advise, I do not own a aircon company, I just feel in Singapore so long as you staying below 5 floors and do not have well ventilated areas, or estate not windy, PLEASE buy air con.

I do not understand why people refrain from using aircon.

2ndly, do note that aircon can set to 25 degrees and low wind, so its still okay. you do not have to blast it right?

There is also timer, can set aircon to on for 4hours when you sleep for 8. so it will auto shutoff while you are sleeping, for those people whom are savy also can use this option.

For me, I sleep on aircon setting 24 degrees and lowest wind.

I hope it sounds logical to people, because this is my personal believe.

Not Satisfy with new mattress

Just bought a new Maxcoil mattress from Courts for $700++ 2 weeks back, not satisfied with it at all.

Can feel something hard when lying down, especially when sleeping on the side. And somehow can feel the centre part is sagging more than the chest part. Maxcoil came to make an exchange but the new one still feel the same.

Really feel suck to waste $700, dun know what course of action can take now.

well you got to understand certain companies are focused onto selling low end mattresses, never will or never have been in the mid high end market.

their component is mostly basic stuff.

imagine u wrap a nice wrapping paper around s***, it is still s***.

Get to know the manufacturer better, often they put a very nice marketing campaign to cover-up their flaws.

I am saying this because I strongly do not feel that made in indonesia got any PREMIUM stuff currently. Just google, probably you know where I am driving at. Manufacturing requires supplies, it is like foxconn they made have treat their staff like **** LOL, but their suppliers are like LG, Samsung, Qualcomm, etc etc giants in the industry. So they basically only assemble.

You got to understand this to probably know what you are buying.

cheers, sorry a bit deep, manufacturers perspective.

well,my friend bought a 2k maxcoil. god bless him, hope he really enjoy the bed. i would never pay 2k for maxcoil even if it comes with a frame.

i'm quite sure maxcoil gives a lot of margin to shops else how can you be seeing maxcoil posters everywhere nowadays?

Been scouting around the world of Mattress since just getting my new home.. just 1 word : CONFUSING !!!
All the different brands saying and hyping all the their different "technology". Really not easy to compare at all!

Been down to Tilam King 2 weeks ago, and I must say have got very insightful and good advice from Ton and his dad.. helps a lot for us to understand a lot more on Mattress selection! Its really assuring to know that they are really sincere when discussing with us, and not pushy like some salesman in showrooms trying to complete their sales to you!

I prefer a not too firm , maybe soft medium feeling, and it seems the memory form feels really great when I lay on it.. but now I see that you guys seems to say it gets really hot w/o aircon ??

Although not decided yet, but I will get another friend to come down to together to check TK out and maybe get ours together today.. :)

geez... thanks so much sir, for the compliment.

Just our strong believe that we can make the industry better. I think consumers are pretty confused because of the kind of "sales technique and marketing involved" in such a simple product we called MATTRESS.

Don't know why this industry filled with so much crap also.

But at least I come from a manufacturing perspective, I say what I believe and I am not afraid to expose most of my ways to manufacture. So simple anyone can do it.

I just feel the ERA of marketing crap is over, substance is everything. No nonsense BS, you will slowly grow to understand where am I coming from. Maybe not now, but I am sure in the future you will slowly know...

Cheers

hello bro sis
my other half and i now shopping for mattress. must thank everyone here, including tilam king for putting in a lot of educational info of what to look for in mattress. just to add my 2 cents contribution of best mattress model

HTTPCOLONSLASHSLASHvoicesDOTyahooDOTcomSLASHbest-mattresses-according-consumer-reports-testing-12156438DOThtml?cat=5

however, it is quite useless as most of the models are in US and they don't carry the same models here

also i agree with tilam king that they purposely change the names of the models to purposely confuse the consumer

Another brand to recommend is Goodnite mattress from Hommage Lifestyle.

Their mattress are comfortable and price are reasonable. I got my King size mattress with natural latex for less than 2K.

pleasure, so long as people wise up, slowly you will see brands change the approach and hopefully make the industry better.

that is basically my ultimate goal. it sucks to see how companies market with the lamest yet is the greatest.

Substance over marketing should be the way to go.

We can go on all day about mattress quality, brand etc but at the end of the day only 2 things impt, the FEEL and the COST. Yes, Tilam king aka Tony can give u a lot of advise whats good and not, but when I went to the showroom, all I wanted to look for is the FEEL, not sleeping on plastic wrapped bed. Tilam king claimed its for hygiene reasons, so many sweaty ppl etc and frequently change bedsheets also not enough? Isnt this supposedly a customer choice whether he wants to be "dirty" to test the bed? When testing a bed for feel and comfort, the mind needs to be relaxed, yet I couldn't even have 5 mins of silence as the salesman keeps yapping about this and that and the whole experience was a turn off. Tony u really need to work on that.

I had a total different experience at Englander@ furniture mall (near IMM). The moment I walked in, I was told to try every bed for as long as I can, if possible, go to sleep mode! I spend about 2 hours there, the salesgirl was very patient and polite, telling me the difference of each bed, and asking me to sleep as long as I can to find the right feel. She gave me ample space and freedom to try it out, standing far from a distance waiting and only came nearer when I signal for her. This is the correct attitude for selling BEDS! U wouldn't want someone to keep staring at u when testing right? Anyway its really really comfortable and to be honest I wanted to doze off. In the end I bought a king size bed for like 2.4k, currently on promotion.

Just came back from Tilam King and bought the TK Luxury Series Queen Size with my fiancee. I like it that they only have 4 models - one basic model + three higher end ones (high density foam, memory foam, and latex)

I find it easier to compare and choose from these four models depending on my personal preference and budget. Highly recommended and service was good. Glad to believe in a fellow Singaporean and gave it a try at their warehouse.

Two thumbs up for TK! Btw only Vincent (the dad) was around when we went there this evening. Very knowledgeable and pleasant gentleman :)
