My plan is expiring next month. :(

Troublesome part I think will be the installation. Fibre? Cable? Is it so? Coz I'm not at home most of the time. Staying elsewhere together with wife.

Subscribe for who to use and what's their usage?
Fibre is tied to the TP and ADSL is tied to fixed line number.
Cable is "portable".

End of next month is IT fair. Cable BB can be easily install to any cable tv point. Most home already have the fibre ONT so not a issue.

my fibre plan is expiring and I feel dat I dun utilize much as I am using wireless and less download.

I plan to go back to normal broadband probably 10Mbps.

Is there any tips I can get a cheaper rate via recontract by calling to their hotline and ask them to transfer to retention dept?

I remember few yrs back I tried some methods proposed from here and got myself a very good rate. Not sure if it is still works now since I plan to downgrade?

btw there is dis 7.2mbps mobile broadband bundle which I nvr came across in the past. Does that mean I can use the stick to surf unlimited and pay $$31.90 2gether with my home BB per mth?

thanx

You can always try.... but the end result will always depend on the CS on the other side. Whether they want to help or not... or whether they want to get a faster-ending call and say 'no more offer'... :s8:

You can point out you have been a longtime loyalty customer, prompt in payment, etc... but in end, they might just say 'so you want to recontract as per advertised, or not' :s22: So you have to have a backup plan..... :s13:

This is just an extra they put in. And be reminded, it isn't unlimited. It is only 1Gb data. Make sure when (or if) you get and use it, you install that App where you can constantly check on ur data usage for this. Watch a few youtube videos, you will exceed that and have to pay extra $$$$.... Thus, you know why only now this is included.

Previously when i was asking them abt this, the CS told me no... if i want the 1Gb mobile BB, i will have to pay $14.90. :s22:

thanx 4 de reply. will try ask.

emm, 1gb only ah so pathetic... and still nid 2 pay???

i'd rather use my mobile hotspot with my 12gb mobile plan.

i will check again on the 1gb mobile plan and ask if currently still nid 2 pay or not, if nt i just take and hopefully the usb dongle is free n no hidden charges.

ya agree wif u on their gimmick of giving 1gb plan hoping user to exceed and earn xtra money. so sly of them zzZ :(

Ey, u might have misunderstood.... I said previously (couple of months back) when i requested for this they ask me to pay. Nowadays it is free... or so-called together with the bundle deal. ;)

Now no need to pay. How many not-so-smart person :s8: willing to pay that amount for that data. I think they earn more giving out free 1Gb data, due to the exceeding usage of some people, than to wait for someone to sign for a 1Gb data plan. :s13:

Actually, 100M fiber is good enough for most people.
Anything more is a load of marketing crap.

If you torrent, max speed is cap by ISP to the most 3.5Mbps.
If you use Google Drive/Dropbox/Youtube, the max download speed doesn't exceed 12Mbps, I think.

If you use Wi-fi for your notebook, tablet etc, your max speed
is about 50Mbps.

I've yet to see what can I do on the internet that can make
full use of my 200M fibre, asides from doing Speedtest.net
to see 190Mbps on my lan wired notebook, just to feel shiok
for a minute, then for the rest of the day, seeing less than 25Mpbs usage. I'm not a gamer. What kind speed do gamers
achieve on during their gameplay?

Would be good to know what speed you're getting on your Fibre connection for Google drive/Youtube/Torrent and whatever you do on the internet.
It will be helpful for bros here to know what to expect when they use a Fibre line. Your expertise will be much appreciated, if you're willing to share with us.

Although you are right about that, while some application don't need high bandwidth makes think as if you don't need high bandwidth. But in reality, it's the technology being used. In the end, you still need higher bandwidth.

It's good to increased bandwidth, not because you want faster downloading. It's really the technology behind the network.

Fiber is the same as Ethernet technology just like cable network, they are sharing bandwidth, thus the increase in user base the need to increase the bandwidth.

That's how ISP business model works, it's really the user base and the usage which has been increasing that you'll have to increase your bandwidth requirements in order to reduce network congestion. Sounds like when we increased our bandwidth, we are helping ISP aren't we?

i rec letter

39$ for 200mbps fiber

May I know how u got the letter. My 23.45 10Mbps plan ended and the customer retention only offered me 29.95 for 15Mbps plan. And digital voice still need to pay9 bucks.Really joker.

Thinking of jump to M1 200mbps at 39.90 with free data sim 1Gb for my iPad. Cos want to terminate the multi sim plan from singtek cost me 10 bucks per month. Telcos nowadays are blardy blood suckers these days.

BT speed from last night. Speeds usually above 15MB/s. Max is ~ 23MB/s. Note, the figure in the screenshot is Mbyte/s

M1 200Mb/s plan.

As for WiFi, internal transfer from my microserver (wired) to rMBP (ac wireless) via acn66u router, speeds are around 390Mbit/s. So for a 200Mb fibre plan, the wireless is not the bottleneck once you have the right equipment, but the internet connection.

One more for the collection
