I've been using ViewQwest for more than 1.5 years now and I've to say their service and speed has been excellent. No network is going to have 100% reliability, but compared to other ISPs I've used, they've been much more responsive and honest to their customers, which I really appreciate.

I for sure didn't get multiple outages, this is probably my 2nd time.

And being a VQ customer for 1.5yrs, the experience I get from calling support is 100000x better than my Starfug days.

So keep up the good work folks!

Well, I do hope I can abuse the bandwith lol.

Well, I do hope so since I jumped ship from the Green and do hope I can stick around with VQ for good.

May I ask whether is it normal for the status light on the zhone to continously blink right now?

Yep the status light should blink slowly and continuously.

VQ's reliability is really something that needs to be addressed.

This is the third or fourth outage I've experienced this year, and it's not even May.

VQ's not:
  • Fast - Consumer Broadband Report
  • Reliable (seriously, I experience around one outage per month?)
  • Cheap (look at the market)

Last year was good. The **** really hit the fan this year.

I'm starting to really regret re-contracting.

As others have mentioned the network hasn't gone down in quite a while and definitely this is the first of its kind in several quarters.

Unfortunately a far more common problem are OpenNet-resolved loss issues that affect a few people repeatedly.

Usually the cause is not shared to the subscriber but I have seen a case of one of VQ's connections which was "fiber bitten by mouse" three times already.

At the same time others are unlucky where the same issue occurs 2-3 times, which are a very small percentage of subscribers only.

For the most part I would say not just for VQ but in general most people can go for 2 years or more never having any loss issues.

It doesn't look good nor is it a good reason but unfortunately these things happen to every ISP and what is important is that the ISP has kept you updated every step of the way - hopefully VQ has lived up in that regard

Hi ahlee,

That's really quite surprising! There hasn't been an outage like this in quite some time - definitely the first of the year.

Have you contacted NOC for the other times? If there's ever a problem with your service please do not hesitate to contact NOC by phone or e-mail (6723 8100 / noc@viewqwest.com) and/or send us a message on here, facebook or twitter. We're always more than happy to help - the stability of your connection has been and always will be our top priority.

Thanks for clarifying that connection stability is your top priority. That really helps.

Yes, I have contacted NOC for every incident. If you can check the ticketing system (which I suspect is a manual system), you'll be able to see that I've had a lot of issues with my connection (1Voice, Freedom VPN, Internet), and that's an understatement as I'm a WAN SDM myself.

If you look at my forum posts, I've started as a supporter of VQ's service, and even referring my friend to sign up for your service, but the service has really degraded in recent months.

So, please help. I have more than a year to go on my contract, and I really don't want to start thinking about getting a dual link connection for my home.

Hi ahlee,

Hmmm i'm sorry to hear this.

Would be very happy to help! Could you PM me your NRIC? Will take a look at your cases and get someone to make sure that there isn't something else at work here.

Hi everyone,

Happy to report that the network is now back to normal. If you're still experiencing problems with your connection, please reboot the Zhone and your own router (if applicable) and contact support at noc@viewqwest.com - the support hotline may still be quite busy for the next few hours as we're experiencing a much higher than usual call volume.

Again, we'd like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this incident. Our engineers will be doing a full investigation to determine the cause and to ensure that measures are put in place to help prevent future occurrences.

Great work VQ team..

Company's line went down at approx 1815-30. (tried calling in but the lines were down too? :s11: - no ringing tone)

Services restored in less than 1hr - for my office & our customers' sites.

I'm home - VQ line is working as it should. Bedok exchange

Being using VQ so long (1.5 years) but today outage slightly longer and has impact a wide range of customer. But I think VQ has done a great job in recovering the service.

Great jobs for your engineer.
