I don't think that there's a need for "F: x is a thing" in the glossary (at leas based on what we're taught and based on what we're tested on anyway)

'Everything exists' should be translated into '∀xFx' where Fx: x exists

You see. x has to be a thing. Being a thing is a property. If x is not a thing, then it doesn't exist.

F: x is a thing
G: x exists

This is of course disputable. That's why philosophy should not have exams.

I am open to the idea that I am wrong unlike some government scholars. One of them happens to study physics in Caltech

so mean :(:(

i thought you'd share some idea on occupation/job that requires a lot of thinking :s22:

Start a business. Learn to invest. Independently investigate on some phenomenon that you observed. These activities need thinking.

The rest like civil servants or corporate drones don't require mmuch thought. Those who work hard tends to have less clarity of mind

From my 4 years experience and nus debate team, you don't learn from debates. It's a sophist game.

You only learn when the discussion is a friendly discussion among friends. I don't sense mengshuen is trying to be a friend. That's why I ignored him.

Government scholars usually very competitive and like to win. That's why I stay away from them.

:eek::eek::s13:

competition is here to stay, whether you like it or not

in fact, startup founders are even more obsessive about competition, trying to find out everything about their competitors, people like them etc.

true story :s22:

Wuwei. Compete without competing.

Those who focus on winning tend to overoptimize and blow up. Taleb talks about these people in his book fooled by randomness.
