Anyone tried? 5Ghz still drop??

I am trying now!!

1. MASSIVE PS4 LAG with " Nat Acceleration" ON MASSIVE: OFF it seems good!!

2. DNLA media server would not work: FIX : turn it off and on and apply!!!

3. TO BE continued........

IOS or wifi loss problems usually only show up in 24 to 48 hours, well see..

NOW with that said and the fixes above for the only 2 problems I see !!SO FAR!! I see no other problems YET

EDIT1: I still get this, no big deal, but to whom want to know

Feb 25 17:31:43 kernel: br0: received packet on eth1 with own address as source address
Feb 25 17:34:39 kernel: br0: received packet on eth1 with own address as source address

5ghz will still face problems so long the quantenna driver is the same.

Thats why initially i challenged asus@sg why cannot update to this version albeit indicated for japan only. Asus@sg did not respond to this.

Now merely they update the change log. Simi fixed nat loopback, its still happening leh.

Simi update signature version to 1.030? I still at 1.010 despite a reset and set up the router as new. Rebooted afterwards, signature version still the same. Not a big concern to me, but merely lowers the credibility of asus branding nia..

Ok to be fair, other quantenna powered routers are still facing this disconnection problem.. My only chance is to wait for my android lollipop update in hope for this.

Waiting for Asus@sg to feedback if this is the version he is referring to. Or is there another one on the way...

I know you are not going to either believe me or want to hear this, (I am still testing this new version, so judgement is still up in the air), but the dd-wrt I was on (the first one) did not have 5GHz drops at all, YES another beta after did, but a few more betas and I believe dd-wrt would have a perfect wifi 5GHz.

So I am not sure about the driver being bad, but the way Asus and others are implementing it is causing it. I even asked my wife after the 4-5 days with dd-wrt on and she said absolutely no wifi issues.

I hope this new Asus one works, give me a few days and I'll know better.

This router is hopeless..I am on viewqwest 600mbps and sitting beside my router:

I connect to 2.5ghz and using my speed test, my speed test only 30mbps

I connect to 5ghz and using speed test, my speed test is only 200mbps.

Wonder whether will fair better with Asus 68U

2.4GHz band is really dependent on what other devices are around your router as they are prone to inferences. Their signal penetration is high, so you are likely to receive good signal strength. But, speed on 2.4GHz is limited due to the use of lower frequency, and the speed is really prone to the inferences like Det phones, or neighbours' 2.4GHz etc. For my case, I can get on average 70Mbps on 2.4Ghz on my iphone 6plus when I'm at a distance from my AC87U. On my iMac that is just beside the AC87U, it can receive ~90Mbps download speed.

5GHz is less prone to inferences but signal penetration is not as good. However, I would say AC87U 5GHz is pretty good, I can still receive ~100 to 150Mbps on my n-client devices. On my iphone 6 plus, it can receive ~200Mbps in my room, where the router is in the living room. As to what is the real world speed that AC-client can really get, I really cannot tell as iphones are the only devices with AC-clients in my household.

Generally I would say if you can get ~200Mbps on wireless is pretty good. Even if you go for homeplugs, you are not likely to achieve this speed unless you are talking about the new 1800Mbps MIMO standards, where you can get around 250-280Mbps on speedtest if I'm not wrong (do note that speed is very dependent on your house electrical wiring for homeplugs).

FYI, I'm using 600Mbps Viewqwest plan too.

This doesn't sound good. Wondering if I should try the new firmware or not. I'm already getting lazy upgrading and downgrading firmwares. lol!

I'm currently using Merlin's FW that is based on Asus 2796 FW. Have been on it for nearly 2 weeks. Everything seem fine.
