How do i get the signature version updated to 1.030? I was able to get to 1.028 previously when i was with merlin firmware. but now, no matter how many restarts or enabling the AiProtection feature, doesn't help to get the version updated..
Mine is 1.004…

Will flash it tonight. Hopefully this is the last time I need to call ViewQwest again.

In case anyone knows, how come flashing to DD-WRT will always increase the MAC by 1? Anyway for it not to change that? :D

You can check it yourself when u flash. It will decrement by 1 if flash back to Asus'.

This is problematic for those who have to bridge to ISP ONT

Sent from Samsung SM-N910F using GAGT

Change the Mac address of your router's WAN personally? so that you don't need to keep calling in. It's under special ISP requirement for Asus official FW and Merlin's FW. I'm not sure about DD-WRT though. Probably you can try searching for that function.

Yeah, saw some old threads on this MAC issue in their forums. Have to try it out since I'm not sure if the commands remains relevant or not.

In any case, since I initially tied my MAC on Asus firmware to ViewQwest's ONT, there is no need to change anything in the official firmware.

I'm actually surprised no one here or rather not many people are aware that changing to DD-WRT will change the MAC. This has been a long outstanding issue.

In fact years ago, when change to DD-WRT, will have a default MAC of 00:11:22:33:44:55....

Probably most of the guys here using DD-WRT aren't with viewqwest. haha. i can totally understand the chore of calling VQ technical support or emailing them just to change the MAC address binded to your gateway modem, even though their technician are pretty fast in responding to our needs.

Ok, here is my first review of the latest DD-WRT firmware.

i) MAC increase by 1 as expected. Good thing is I can change it to the actual MAC myself (wonder why I did not do this step all this while...)

ii) Speedtest same as what I expected. Official firmware I can reach 900Mbps. DD-WRT I reached 400Mbps max. This resonates with what Maylyn suggested before (no NAT hardware acceleration).

I will stay with this firmware for a couple of while longer to see if there is any stability in regards to the 5Ghz. Got a laptop fan cooling it till 65c so temperature should not be a problem.
