some noob questions regarding Digital TV.

1. i need a digital tv set up box and an indoor antenna in order for my old tv to receive digital tv right? i got no miotv and starhub cable tv.

2. i noticed that all the digital tv set up box comes with their own remote control. does this mean that when i need to change tv channel, i need to use the digital tv set up box's remote control to change channel from now on?

3. any brand and model to recommend... cheap and good reception, no need any fancy function? MDA's website only list 4 models and the only brand i recognise is ac ryan.

2) Yes, very much like using a Starhub or MioTV box.

3) AC Ryan works fine. I think internally it might be identical to the Draco, but with a much nicer looking menu and is more compact.

Hi All,

Is there any DVBT2 recorder currently in the market that can record all 7 programs concurrently into external usb hdd 24/7. And when the hdd is full, it will auto overwrite.

The recorder can be in STB, USB dongle, or PCI type.

Tks.. It said 2016, so no point buying the DVB-T2 box from IT show now.

ya no point buying now since next year the boxes are definitely going to be cheaper and that should be more models to choose from.

Mine is under the pink area, Q2 this year but the signals are quite decent for indoor use. just the positioning of the antenna is pretty awkward looking.

my ac ryan digital tv set up box takes 4 second to change channel. this 4 second is the duration of the black screen when you change channel.

the signal quality is 90% so i don't think the problem lies with the signal quality.

Most likely is your ac ryan being slow.. Any firnware update for it?

Just curious. I got my digital TV working after installing the antenna. Surprisingly, the TV guide feature (can see all the TV schedule) is working as well. How does this TV guide gets its info from? Is it off the air as well?

i noticed that changing from Channel 5 (HD) to Channel 8 (HD) took less than a second. Channel 8 (HD) to Channel 5 (HD) also took less than a second.

but changing from Channel 5/8 (HD) to Channel U took 4 seconds. seems like the problem lies with switching from HD channels to SD channels and vice versa.

U are correct...this seems to be for Acryan. Probably need feedback from other brands like Draco/Kuro whether this is standard?

This observation is correct. Channel U signal is not that good and it took me a while to find the sweet spot for the antenna.

But 4 second, seem too long. Mine seem like 2 seconds plus minus.
