Oh well ;) You wouldn't want to know how many love letters i have sent out to ASUS TW to trying get their act together :s8: red tapes everywhere too :s22: At the very least, they are still pretty receptive to changes.

Do come back when the ASUS next generation routers are announced to see see look look ^^

Cannot compare SG and TW working styles. We abit only complain or cry papa cry mama.. Their style more relax pace.
Hopefully like what you said, I do hope they listen.
But I just don't understand why do they want to add more features (like the Ad blocker thingy mentioned by Merlins) but not solving immediate issues.:s8:

I wanted to even give the EA-AC87 a chance to be my AP and pair up with N66U in my new home. However no POE supported. Although not a must have, but still will be a considering factor.
Come to think if the ceiling is white. Mounting a black AP with antennas sticking out also look weird.

You bet I will still be here. Cause before the decision to purchase the above, I insist my manager to get the AC87U bundle when he sign up for MR fiber 2 weeks ago. He could have chosen any other bundles offered without the router and purchase a router separately.

Why he did not give AC3200 a chance.... aiya .....

Now my issue isn't about router part. It's the AP/ wifi part to be mounted on ceiling. 6 antennas on the ceiling :s11: cmi la.. Also AC3200 don't have Access Point Mode by default right? (probably can do the manual way) but I don't want to risk and be 'beta' user again.

If only I can ask my manager to cancel the router bundle router promo.:s13:
if not he is probably gonna kill me..

Thanks for the info guys on AP Mode. Even Asus website on hardware specs double standard. Not to mentioned previously AC87R and AC87U FW had different versions.

Anyone can advise me? I've just hopped on M1 1gbps fibre.

Connected via LAN cable to my laptop (Core i5 1.7GHz).
M1 technician say to fully utilize 1gbps, i will need to have at least Core i5 2.0 GHz. Because the current speed test i tried using Cat 5e from the router is around 550mbps dl.

Via wifi 5ghz is around 350 mbps.

Or is there any setting is need to do on the router?

From ONT to router i'm using Cat 6e cable

have u tried to do a test directly on ONT? skip the router first.

it is unlikely that your processor would matter. cos i have laptops with lower spec could also achieve close to 1gbps speed..

Wanting to dump my RT-AC87U. I am looking at the new zyxel wac6503d-s. Dunno if that is good.

Just open ceremony only. Now still playing around with the setup especially the vlan part to segregate the private and guest network. Moreover this AP has to be mounted on the ceiling to be 'optimised' which my current place isnt suitable. Gotta wait until I move in to my new place to see the performance.

Told my wife that I need to configure 1st so can mount immediately once shift..:s13: But real reason is I cannot resist due to hand itchy.

$116X with Mounting kit + Poe + 1 year partner Watchdog support. If get the normal ac adaptor is about $1110+-. -$99 if you exclude Watchdog support. Yes bought locally.
Actually I wanted to get the Unifi UAP-AC as it was like half the price and probably one of the cheapest AC1750 AP. But reading mixed reviews so ditched the idea.

Aiyoh ASUS RT-AC87U is the universal SKU whereas the ASUS RT-AC87R is exclusively for Best Buy US. Not even Amazon US and Newegg US has those.

Basically it's the same made and model, just the labeling is different.

As for the mistakes reflected on the web, let the ASUS web management team amend it accordingly :s13: Like you say their pace isn't like us :D

Ours cannot tolerance any mistakes :p

Awaiting for your experience :D

I go compose my next love letter to ask ASUS TW to spearhead their first enterprise grade WLAN AP/Router :D Price ~ 4 figure onwards - PoE, 10GbE LAN, SFP+ Tilera SoC up to 72 cores ;)

Hi,

Possible to ask shop which sell & has exstock for the the ZoneFlex R710 ?

On manufacturer
why users here .. still trust their brand & products..?
They have been releasing substandard routers to market.
it seem that they have problems on NPD or their statement on quality and reliability.

Bros and Girls.. there are other brands..
unless u are so keen to spend $ and time (even more impt) on their newer and more exp products but cannot meet its own spec/design.

Those purchased AC87 U and RT-AC3200 ... already wasted $700+ & your time !. Time spent during downtime, reset, upload new software.. reset / reboot again... there are better ways to spend your time .

RT-AC3200 dont have any issue, while RT-AC87U keep improving better and better.

You never know sometimes the problem is cause by device or user problem and they blame on the router.

ASUS router is one of best in industrial for technical support and release firmware to resolve the problem, if you compare to other brands.

Dlink.sg support better ime.

Hardware RMA, 1 to 1 brand new box, located at sim lim. Used to be lifetime warranty.

Email support, 24 hours will reply. But most time is standard copy n paste troubleshooting by Indian tech support. But they do answer more in-depth questions rather than just reboot and reset etc.

Will be getting Dlink AC3200 to test. :D

Dear Bemylove,

All ASUS networking products provide 1 to 1 brand new set and cover with 3 years warranty.

Best regard,
JK
