Dlink.sg support better ime.

Hardware RMA, 1 to 1 brand new box, located at sim lim. Used to be lifetime warranty.

Email support, 24 hours will reply. But most time is standard copy n paste troubleshooting by Indian tech support. But they do answer more in-depth questions rather than just reboot and reset etc.

Will be getting Dlink AC3200 to test. :D

Avertek RMA also easy. 1-1 brand new box. Asus got Asus_SG here assisting.
Agree their RMA location is abit far off but if you are driving it okay.

RT-AC3200 dont have any issue, while RT-AC87U keep improving better and better.

You never know sometimes the problem is cause by device or user problem and they blame on the router.

ASUS router is one of best in industrial for technical support and release firmware to resolve the problem, if you compare to other brands.

You sure ac3200 doesn't have issue? Smart connect doesn't work as advertised... thats not an issue?

ac87u 5ghz dc is rampant... just open your eyes and read for goodness sake. people here compromise by turning off BF. Even with BF off.... there are still issues.... ie "wifi connected but no internet connectivity" problem. Jong is having issues with AP and guest mode... please dun sweep all this under your carpet and pretend its not there. if it doesn't affect you, doesn't mean it doesn't affect other.

On the other hand.... most brand are also facing the same prob.... new ac routers are just plugged with all those problems.... just read review on nighthawk and other major brands and model. To be fair... asus support is exceptional. ..... beta firmware release almost fortnightly... and JK working hard to resolve issues of the problems ppl faced and reported here.

The new firmware seems to fix the Smart Connect settings on AC3200. I think trichard has tested it.

And to be fair, everyone environment is different and thus your SC settings may needs to be different too. Yes, the default setting that come with the router might not work for all but at least there is a setting page to tweak it to your liking. I do want to suggest ASUS coming up with a better and simple UI for SC for those that are not that technical inclined to tweak SC to their environment. The current one is too complex.

Yap the latest FW SC is good. Not only me tested but smallnetwork forum and some other buyer here also playing with it.

For people who from 68U ... Seriously they should avoid 87U and go straight to AC3200 for now.

Makes me wonder more if the 87u is indeed a trail product..... about 9mths in the market and still cannot resolve problems with 5ghz. Whereas 3200 got it fixed in a few wks

5Ghz working great here and for most, now. I do think maybe you have a corrupt NVRAM - I should know I had a different, very weird, problem that no one else had for several weeks - look back in this thread. If you really can't fix it with resets I would RMA the unit or return to store for a swap if that's easier.

What is the problem of the 5ghz?

AC3200 is only just tunning the rule ... So suppose to be easier.

They will want the receipt. If not, warranty is by manufacturing year regardless u register or not.

They usually will exchange for u and take what u claim to be. But if u repeatedly go exchange, they will know. So it gets harder if u abuse it..

5GHz speed test having similar result with 2.4GHz

Hi everyone,
I just bought this RT-AC87U last week from MyRepublic after recontract with 1GBPS plan. I'm having problem with the internet speed for both 5GHz and 2.4GHz. Currently my speedtest result only show less than 30MBPS for both band at a distance about 3 meter away from router. My previous router Asus RT-AC66U, can give me around 115MBPS on 200MBPS plan. I'm now on the latest firmware 4950. Sometimes I see the signal is very strong but there's no internet connection. I would like to know if there's any setting that I've missed out on this router.
Thanks

I think we need to get terminology clear. Do people mean wifi connected, but no wifi throughput, even on LAN (a common problem with earlier firmware, but now should be fixed), or wifi working on LAN but no INTERNET, i.e. WAN, throughout (wifi working normally)? Because we've already had one example where the problem turned out to be with the ISP, not the router.

For me, its the latter....wifi connected, lan connectivity ok.... wan ie internet connectivity is totally lost.... it is possible for the root cause to be the isp...... but highly unlikely. was on 68u previously.... no such problem at all
