I played this during the beta with a founder's pack. Main gunner. I have not seen the latest update but i have since stopped playing. Below are my comments.
Warning: Long detailed post
Pros/advice:
1. F2P.
2. The quests are generally linear but you dont have to go back to quest givers to turn in.
3. POE style skill tree. The initial skill points to put in wont have much choices and is quite linear. However, if you want to play an advanced class (e.g slayer, alchemist), You can pre plan your skill tree route. Determine which of the 3 starter class will help you get to your advanced class faster.
4. Those who dont know what to play. i advise you to start with cryomancer. Very good class to learn the game with. Ranged dps + CC.
5. Skill nodes that you put in for other classes than your main, those stats will increase your char's overall strength regardless.
6. Solo dungeons available.
Cons:
1. F2P. Cash shop system. They advertise as no cash shop advantage and only cosmetic. What they dont tell you is there are certain big skill nodes in the advanced tree (You unlock advanced tree after clearing your basic class skill nodes), that can only be unlocked via argents (cash purchasable currency). These nodes gives alot more stats than your normal nodes and the more argents you spend to unlock the node, the more stats you can unlock on that node (capped but with multiple tiers per node).
2. Weekly currency cap. You earn different colored currency while clearing quests/dungeons and used them to unlock their respective colored skill nodes in your skill tree. However, these currency you can earn per week is hard capped. They use this to restrict hardcore players who play alot from getting too far ahead of casuals. E.g. hardcore player plays 3 days straight and is capped. The currency he would have earned now is changed to currency for costumes only. If you spend argent to "sub" to the game monthly, you can earn the currency at an accelerated rate, but that also means that if you cap yourself at day 1 of the weekly reset. You might be demotivated to play. This currency cap applies to not only the colored currency to unlock skill tree nodes but also ingame gold. You need gold to progress the npcs you send out to do missions on your behalf. Successful missions done gains you passive stats so they are important as well. Like those mobile games, where you capped your energy and need to wait for timer to reset.
You can spend cash to buy argents and sell them ingame for gold. This gold that you get from other players do not count towards your weekly cap. So you can progress further than others that do not spend $$.
Overall, good casual game especially for those that dont want to spend $.
