Cityinn not bad.
Taipei 101 has no nearby train station.
So still stay ard tms. There is ymca, ceasar etc.
Also a few little known ones.

How to get from Keelung to Hualien (I stay Arsma Hotel so is Hualien Station?)?

I read from the net it from Keelung to Badu and then from Badu to Hualien. But I went to TRA site cannot find from Badu to Hualien train for all days. Strangely I found all from Shulin to Hualien

now 101 is easier to get to with the opening of the newer mrt line..

And 90% of the time, you would have to get off at TMS to change line/transportation mode..

XMD not so bad since just 1 stop away..

Staying nearby can just walk over and board the transport direct..Nt forgetting last day with luggage just walk to bus terminal for airport..

When you search, it will show up as start to end station..

For example if you search from Qidu to Hualien and if it shows up as Shulin->Taitung, it means it starts from Shulin and ends at Taitung..And inbetween it also stops at Qidu and Hualien..

Use this old site, it gives u a better idea..

After the search results is out, click on the train code of that particular train and it will give u a popup showing the station it stops at and the time..

Can only help u on the 1st..

Bus if not cab..

From Chiayi HSR, about 3hrs to the top..I believe bus timing not as frequent as at Chiayi TRA station which is about 2+ hours to the top.

If planning on train wise, TRA from Chiayi TRA Station only brings you until Fenchihu which is about 1hr away from the main area..
