Mountain bike fork sexpert come in.

My fox 32 talas R don't rebound up anymore. Only when I get off the bike then it will rebound back. I pump air to 135psi as recommended into the fork Liao. What is wrong? Is it due for servicing? Change oil etc?

Who can service fork? I live west side.

is there such thing like heavy duty tires preventing tire puncture?
i get relatively few punctures.

this year, i only punctured once on a continental ultra sports tires which i changed out. i really think it depends on how you ride on the road, i rarely keep into the double yellow line and gutter

I have a MTB at present. Now looking for a road bike.

Between these two, which is better?
1. Cervelo S3 Ultegra ~$6350
2. Pinarello Gan RS Ultegra ~$6500

The S3 has an awkward mounting for the Di2 battery assuming I upgrade to Di2 version in future. Not sure how the battery is mounted on the Pinarello? (inside seatpost?)

Check which geometry of the two is more suitable for you. Find out what your height and inseam is. From what I know, Pina's geometry is long and low, not sure if your back will be able to take it. If frame weight is a concern, see which of the two is lighter.

Long term cost for things like spare parts, can also check how much stuff like replacement rear derailleur hangers cost, cus chances are, you'll have to get them replaced if you ever bend them.

Oh ya, forgot to reply, S3 can have internal battery placed in the seat tube. Bikes n Bites has done quite a few of such jobs for customers who didn't want the batt to be mounted outside.

Solid tyres like Tannus?

For heavy duty tyres, schwalbe marathon or big apple are worthy considerations.

Schwalbe sometimes got two models for each name of tyre.

That time I changed mine to Big Ben... actually gotten a heavier version. Quite sian.... now have to wait till bald then change to lighter version.

Good to know that.
Been to Bikes & Bites recently to check out the S3, S5. The service there is top notch! Staff are friendly and very helpful.

I would like to ask - anyone here wipes the bike with GT85 after cleaning it? I read somewhere that by doing this, it offers a layer of teflon coating that repels dirt better.

TIA for replies.

I suppose the last guy who rubbed his braking surfaces liberally with it didn't live to tell us how effective it was, so...

Used to do it some years back. Also heard that teflon thing somewhere. Not sure if the teflon thing really works as in preventing new dirt from sticking on the frame though.:p But had not done it for sometime liao. But so far, had not observed any adverse effects. Btw, I spray the GT85 onto a piece of cloth in order to have control on where the GT85 goes and wipe only the painted frame only. I treat that as a quick fix way of cleaning the frame and hopefully have less dirt sticking onto it. For more detailed work, I wash the bike and applied car wax over the painted parts of the frame.

Had not done it ever since I got myself the Finishline Showroom Polish and Protectant. But I also avoid getting that stuff going onto the brake components too.

Heavier means more protection...

I remember I used to have Schwalbe marathon supreme tyres on my 406... Each tyre is about 330g. One of the most puncture resistant and anti-slip tyres around...

Then I changed to Durano tyres. Much faster, but more slippery and uncomfortable and has two punctures.

Then I changed to Panaracer Minits Lite tyres 451 after upgrading my wheelset to 451. Rolls even better than Durano, but much more uncomfortable. Amazing thing is... despite being very lightweight (<170g per tyre), it is still quite puncture resistant.

I think my previous tires were 500+ g per wheel then now become 800+ per wheel. Burden almost doubled.

OK I have a question to ask about derailleur and internal gear hub.

Suppose I have the following scenario:

Same bike model assuming both have similar weight..

A: x gear inches using cassette derailleur system
B: same x gear inches using internal gear hub (not at direct drive... e.g. 133%)

Which bike will go faster using same pedaling power?

Another scenario:

A: x gear inches using cassette derailleur system
B: same x gear inches using internal gear hub (at direct drive... e.g. 100%)

Which bike will go faster using same pedaling power?

Assuming same power in watts it will be the bike which is the most aero and the lightest bike
