Cant seem to find the answer anywhere.. pardon if this has been asked before.. Can I get a dvb-t2 receiver and connect it to my computer LED monitor via hdmi (instead of a connecting to a LED TV) to watch TV channels? Thanks!

It is possible but take note that not all LED monitor comes with a remote control and also speakers.

Tampines still not in the "green" zone yet, ie. not indoor reception ready, that's reason. As to why Tampines Courts Megastore able to receive, they probably use booster antenna or their own building antenna to pick signal from nearby town. I remember when my area was not "green" but yet able to receive certain channels from HDB MATV point.

Another possibility could be Courts Tampines is getting its signal from Pasir Ris, which is just at the other side of TPE.

If the monitor come with HDMI, most probably it would have built-in speakers. And why would you need a remote for the monitor? Control is done via the receiver/STB.

Your TV model does not support DVB-T2, therefore you can't receive FTA digital TV channels.

However it does have DVB-C tuner, which you can try plugging it to the StarHub TV/SCV point and see whether your TV is able to get unencrypted digital Mediacorp channels from it. :)

thx for the swift reply

are you referring to the coaxial port on the SVC point?

i can't find any port at the back of my TV that my existing coaxial cable can connect to.

When tuning in connected to SCV POINT, try selecting CABLE instead of Air/Terrestrial if able.

Let me know if this works because I also have another 2013 model (F series) but unable to get DVB-C working.

mine is in the 3rd

is there a converter from ANT IN to coaxial?

my TV has only ANT IN input

and to clear the air; when you said connect the SVC point to my TV, is it by using the coaxial cable?

Usually no convertor is required but you will need the correct type of cable.

(To mod, remove if not appropriate, listing is not mine)

It's something like this
https://carousell.com/p/43474573
The end on the left side goes to your TV, the end on the right side goes into your SCV wall plug.

Both ends are different, so I am guessing you might not have this cable or only have the type where both ends are the same.

i get what you mean; 1 end of the cable is for antenna, another end is coaxial.

what i have now is 2 cables and both ends are of the same.

so the RCA cable can be ignored?

thanks all for your kind reply! Bought the NewMediaSolutions set-top box from NTUC nex at $88, and able to hook it up to my LED monitor. Replaced the old tv and freed up some desktop space.

Initially faced some problem when connecting the HDMI cable as it shows "out of range" error. Had to hook the set-top box to old tv and change the resolution to 1080p for the image to show up on the LED monitor.

Surprisingly the reception is very good for Punggol (even though the rollout map shows Q42016). Just had to hang the included antenna near the window. My monitor comes with speakers, but tried and have no problem connecting external speakers via the red and white RCA jacks.

Cheers!

Are you using the provided antenna? And have you try tuning to Malaysia channels?

Summary post of DIY antennas I've tried and found suitable for Singapore's indoors/high-rise environment:

1. Fractal Antenna.
Flat 2D design and easy to hide. Currently in use.

2. Biquad antenna.
Easy to make.

3.UHF Hourglass
Lowest cost antenna. Currently in use.

4.Hentenna
Most compact antenna and easy to make - good performance too.

Places to get a balun:
1. Sim Lim Tower Basement or Sim Lim Square Level 3. Cost: $1-$2. Chinatown's Koba Electronics also have it. Easiest way to buy the item is to show the shop a photo.
2. DIY Balun if you have the materials at hand.

@zoneguard, any luck in getting MY channels with your DIY antenna?

Nope. I'm located at Kallang, low floor. Probably not a good location and height to get MY channels. Anyway somebody at lowyat report loss of signal even at Skudai, Johor. They are probably still testing/adjusting the broadcast signal.

I've built a Stealth Hawk antenna (the finished thing is huge!) with all the leftover material and will try my luck with Batam digital signal since my location is closer to Batam.
