Ignore the front door guys. They know nothing about SingTel TV offers (and also SingTel broadband offers).
I’m thinking of jumping over from Starhub to Singtel TV after close to 20 years with with Starhub (started with SCV).

I went to the Tiong Bahru Plaza Singtel Shop and asked about the National Day promo with 6 months off the Starter packs, but the staff there was as clueless as the paper brochures they tried to give me.

Where exactly can I get knowledgeable staff to help, or should I just call up the Singtel hotline?

That might be just a singtel dealer. Suggest call singtel or visit Singtel shop

Not all matches and programs on Channel 101 are broadcast in 4K; only those matches that have (4K) in front of the program name are in 4K
Is there any value in getting the 4K STB if I don’t watch any football matches?

I’m only interested in those TV programs and movies and using that STB to record programs. Would a 4K STB an overlay for my needs?

Not at this moment. The only true 4k content currently is 2 4k EPL matches per week, which other than paying extra for the 4k STB, u still need to pay extra to watch EPL in 4k.

But I subscribed to the above for my new place .. ;p

to subscribers of Singtel TV, should you get a call from their marketing team trying to upsell you upgrade to their 4K STB, my advise is DON'T! I am facing STB hang everyday and have to perform power reboot 2 times daily.

Last week 17th Aug, received their marketing team telling me what 4K STB promo. I just ok let them arranged for their courier to deliver and ownself swap out the existing HD DVR STB with this 4K STB. My ST setup was using the Huawei ONR in bridged mode done by ST backend back then in Dec 2018.

Here's the breakdown of my timeline of correspondence.

20th Aug 1500hrs, courier delivered 4K STB in box, and as advised, we ownself swapped out the HD DVR STB, connected my own CAT6 to the ONR (in bridge mode).

20th Aug 1630hrs, 4K STB hanged on Mediacorp Channel 8. Done power reboot from ONR to 4K STB.
20th Aug 2000hrs, hang again this time on Channel 414. Called 1688 they will schedule a engr to check.
21 Aug to 22 Aug whole of the day, don't even want to mention at least twice daily power reboot whilst ST engr is scheduled to check on 23rd Aug

23rd Aug 1125hrs ST, he checked and found no compatibility issue with the equipment and had done reset with their backend server and engr left.
23rd Aug 1250hrs, again the 4K STB freeze video. Called in 1688 again and scheduled another engr for the next day.
24th Aug 1300hrs, an engr from ST called to inform the fibre internet will be down for an hour before heading to my place to check as he will perform troubleshoot from the fibre riser of my block.
24th Aug 1345hrs, engr arrived at my home and i duly informed him of my setup which the ONR was bridged, he acknowledge thank you for informing beforehand. engr then proceeded to change the Huawei ONR to the Nokia ONR and set it to bridged mode, working fine when he left house.
24th Aug about 2115hrs, again STB video freeze. going over the same yada yada for power reboot STB and ONR.

needless to say again till now, issue still remains despite numerous visits and a ONR change.

Hello Singtel, please downgrade back to the HD DVR STB, I've had enough.

*updates*
27th Aug 2040hrs, I discovered that the date & time shown on my cordless dect phone was reflected incorrectly, whenever i power cycle the ONR, the date & time shown on my cordless dect phone connected to Tel1 port will start ticking from 1st Jan 2021 0800hrs, manually set it's date and time correctly is pointless as an incoming call will still update to the wrong date and time. I called in ST 1688 the tech support is also clueless and advised me to change out the dect phone. (whaaattt?!?!?! :ROFLMAO: :rolleyes:)

Update: had received the Singtel PM response mentioning letting their product team working on it.

My response: it's alright let their product team work on rectifying the issue with their product, but in the meantime please revert my setup back to the previous HD DVR STB.

sounds like a bandwidth problem. for curiosity sake is the user interface of the 4k and hd stb the same?
I'm running my 4K STB through a pair of Singtel Askey Mesh without any issue.

User interface between 4K and HD STB is exactly the same.

All along the STB is connected via Cat6 directly to the ONR (bridged mode) at port 2. Same goes for this 4K STB connection in the same way.

What tv r u using? I tried the 4K box but couldn’t work it. Reverted to the HD box. Engineers couldn’t resolve.

hi all is it possible to get a better deal for singtel tv by going to the physical shop rather than what they have offered on the online store or call in to their sales hotline. i see online their normal hd settop box have to pay $4.90 monthly where starhub settop box is free one..

Just go to a Singtel Shop (not 3rd party shops) and check out the offer in the TV counter.

Good offers reported here (especially if you have Singtel Fibre): 50% OFF starter packs (non Sports) and free basic set-top box rental, 12 months contract. You can try to negotiate.

Ok thanks xiaofan.will go check it out but for my bb think i will be staying with starhub as it is a lot cheaper than singtel .iam using 500mbps at $29.90 per mth

I've also changed from HD DVR to 4K, also hit issue when box delivered and need to call Singtel Technical support, but issue resolved in 30mins, as they seem need to turn on something at their end after checking with me the serial number. So far so good, and has been using it for a week.

Talked too fast. Getting Error Code 6, and the screen advised to restart the STB, but did it a few times still the same. Called 1688, and arrange a technician to come by 2 days later, so today, tomorrow can only watch Netflix, Youtube and MeWatch (lucky is internet TV). At least this week no EPL.

Looks like quite a few 4K issues….next time then I take up this option…will do a pass for now…still have to pay extra for box and extra for channel…the value that can be derive like not worth…

same issue Error Code6 back then for me, at times don't even flash error code and just screen froze there.

gonna see any other users still have issues with 4K STB.

The Singtel technician has changed my ONR, and took more than 45 mins to configure it. He has connected the STB direct to the ONR which previously it was through my Linksys Router. After that 4k Box work again, but will monitor for next few days and see how?
