Their window based laptop get worse result than mine.

But on MacBook, the download speed go above 800 mbps but upload speed fall below 600 mbps.

Then they wanted to close the case.

I rejected their request and ask them to check what is 'systematic fibre internet connections'

What is your computer specs?

If your machine are installed with any Adobe Flash Player, pls uninstall them altogether.
Either use the Speedtest App from Microsoft App store which is not affected by the Adobe Flash Player or Use only Windows 10 & Microsoft Edge browser.

The results will be different.

You can refer to my thread on Speedtest Discrepancy for more info.

But the speedtest website is using HTML 5 and no longer on flash, why would flash on the PC affect the speed accuracy?

Interesting to know their windows based laptop unable to have a reliable good result.

Just wait for the next replacement to see how is the result.

Your MacBook result is also weird.. btw did you run the speedtest at various days & timing.

The Macbook is from Starhub.

1st 3 times they used a win based laptop.

The 4th times, they bring a Macbook.

Most likely too many old system files in the hard disk or SSD and too long never clean up so it slow down the processing process so internet became slow. I think need to do a disk clean up including system files. Must click clean up system files. Then after the computer show how much old system files, just select it and temporary files and temporary internet files etc to be deleted. Finally restart the computer and see whether it is still slow. See this as an example:

best is to reformat the whole PC and boot into safe mode to run the speedtest for the best results..

Do not reformat the whole PC because most machines are pre-installed OS so if you reformat it the OS will be gone. Any way not necessary to do reformat. Just do a disk clean up to clean the old system file and temporary files in the cache will resolve the issue, most of the time. Sorry to say. Do not need to over-do thing.

I think disk clean up is not enough... if want super fast speed and justify when I'm paying for, I have to do what it takes..

reformat and install windows 95 OS then install 2x NVME SSD in raid 0. boot to safe mood and run all the speed test and see the Mbps figures ripp all other people's pathetic 500-700mbps speed till I jizz in my pants..

since that's more or less one of the few reason I can make full use of the bandwidth for..

Like that mean every time run speedtest need to perform all these in order to get a better result.

Fine then i have another laptop fresh installed Windows 10 without any other software or addon.

Never know your OS so old.
Agree with you if it is Windows 95 but do not continue using it.
Honestly Windows 95 OS is too old and no more patches update so there are many security loopholes. Do not use Windows 95 OS. Best to use latest Windows 10 and Edge. If windows 10, a disk clean up is good enough, most of the time. Most people already on Windows 10.

Only need to do disk clean up after a big Windows update as the old windows files remain in the cache. May be 2 month disk clean up once. Upload a bit slow is ok. If remember correctly. Normal surfing of internet like reading news, most of the time we are downloading. Putting up a post to hardwarezone is uploading and reading a post is downloading.

:s13::s13::s13:

I am just kidding you as i have my ways to monitor the speedtest results.:D

Using different laptops and from all the results there is no issue in my internet connection on both upload and download.
Since the IP is the same for the past year or so.
Even the Fibre TV STB has no problem as i have already ensure my ethernet cabling is good & stable.

My much earlier post that you response to is referring to the way Starhub technician way of resolving problems.:s8:

Anyone having issues with starhub ea8100 linksys router? Apps on phone randomly lags and cannot access while browsing still able to surf

I changed back to Asus router to monitor. Changing DNS server sometimes help the issue but it will occur on & off

Yeah.. they don't usually do troubleshooting for customers hence we have to find our own means to resolve.

Unless like in your previous case is ONT problem and this is quite straightforward.

So far for past decade or so my connection is good & reliable and no problem encountered.. hope to keep it this way.
Maybe mine this current ONT is new due to recontract to new flat for this contract.. expiry next month.
