im trying to keep within 2.5k budget while reusing things like my case and pc fans, although i heard if im getting 13th gen cpu it can run hot so might need to get a good cooler. and yeah i heard hogwarts is poorly optimised and currently bottlenecked by cpu :/ using i7-8700k rn

Yes it's true especially for Intel k parts since the TDP is at 125watt so definitely need a new CPU cooler.

GPU: Zotac GTX 1080TI -> MSI RTX 3070 Ti Venus - $1099
SSD: Samsung 2TB

Total: $2229 (Price from Bizgram).
Everything can reused except CPU, motherboard.
RAM wise change to a 32GB kit than sell off both the RAM kits.

Take note before change CPU and motherboard, backup any data on your SSD first.
As on a new motherboard you need to install a fresh copy of Windows, Windows 11 is
recommend for Intel 12/13th gen CPU.

CPU cooler wise depends on what case you are using so I can't recommend one
without knowing what case you are using.

Heard about the new DDR5 Rams, is there a big difference from DDR4? Thanks for the recommendations, v helpful for my decision and planning while keeping within budget any tips on how long more i can use the psu before it gets "unsafe" to use?

Please take note despite you are the moderator here.
I am a PC builder + repair man here, you may know IT but I have build
and seen many different type of build.

I do not just anyhow say oh @Papermoon, you are using a outdated motherboard
so must use RTX3000 series. No OK, to recommend a graphic card
you must see the CPU, motherboard as well as power supply.

Power supply that old may have issues with RTX4000 since it is power hungry.
Which is why I am recommend RTX3000 series not to mention RTX 3000 don't
use the new 12vhpwr which is known to have fire hazard except the RTX 3090.

TS gave only $2500, yes I am wrong not to recommend RTX4070 Ti since you say
it is selling at $13XX. But is there stock and is the pricing accurate as what you say?
Sim Lim Square price time to time change and some shop does update stock availability.

So I don't anyhow recommend oh you must buy this that.
Prices are pulled from today's date price list not from Google or any sources.
As mention I build and repair PC for people so I know what is good pairing
for different configurations as well as PC with stability issues.

I didn't go that far to recommend 2nd hand RTX 2080 which by right pair
with Intel i7 8700k without any bottleneck as well as RTX 2000 supports PCIE3.0
which is a good pairing.

PS this is a forum everyone have their opinion, you may think others are wrong.
But this is a forum where everyone have their own opinion and views.
It is not a company helpdesk or call center, if any employee isn't not delivering up to standard
or delivering false information.

Company have rights to terminate or barred the employee from the helpdesk.
Even in my time at HP, our line manager doesn't go that far to restrict employee from giving
the wrong advice since not all call center personnel are technical verse.

Most IT call center are manned with a mix of personnel whom are technical verse and those who are not.

Yes, that's why i did my homework before i post. Vii PC is selling RTX4070Ti for S$1305 in shopee now. If you have vouchers, it might even drop to the price of S$12XX. If online stock is a concern, TS can actually call up Vii PC in sim lim before heading down.

For a 8700k I would recommend a 3000 series too. I upgraded from 1080ti to a 3060ti the day it was launched paired to a 2700X. Recently upgraded again. 5900X and 4070ti.

No need go back to same shop, can try either PCthemes or Fuwell etc. Shops on level 4.
