UP for more.

I am deciding between XPS 13 and ThinkPad Classic 13.

13 because I want the ease of mobility while the durability to be used at home connected via a bigger Dell Screen.

Any comments for simple use like office, youtube. Actually preferring more towards ThinkPad Classic 13 as the keyboard surface of XPS is rubber, and I don't like the feel of it.
- XPS 13 (8GB RAM) is 1599 while ThinkPad Classic 13 is 1540 but with 12GB RAM.
- XPS 13 glass screen while ThinkPad Classic 13 is mat screen.
- Most headache -> i need a HDMI port to be on the left slot for my external screen connection. XPS13 is on left, while ThinkPad Classic 13 is on the right (thus the HDMI cable has to go round the laptop to connect to the HDMI port of the laptop, which looks weird).
- Both be choosing i5, since I'm just using simple applications.

ya i remember it is 128 but not a concern for me, as I don't save big files like video. My worrying point for ThinkPad is the after service should it break down, cause Dell is very reputable for its after service, while Lenovo I had a bad experience when my current Ideapad broke down 3 years ago. Especialy so the ThinkPad Classic 13 is a new model.

I will consider either lenovo thinkpad and dell latitude series.

A lot ppl commented about dell xps problems in reddit. But i do agree that dell xps series looks awesome

Probably a factor of how many people bought it and whether that market are also those who typically post on reddit...

As for the Lenovo 13 - isn't that the Celeron based model?

I think the more valid concern with a 128gb SSD as compared to 256gb and bigger one is the speed, since it is slower.

Yes. 128gb is SATA while 256gb is PCIe. But I'm not sure if you will really notice the speed increase in everyday use if not dealing with multiple large files (I know I won't). YOu can always buy a larger SSD and replace it yourself, many people have done it. But do it at your own risk of course..

Lenovo 13 come with 1 yr warranty? Can purchase extended warranty like 2nd or 3rd yrs?

Checked on Lenovo online site : http://shopap.lenovo.com/, when placed order from this model, in the customise section, you can choose 1 to 5 years on whether next business day/back to depot etc. So yes there is warranty more that a year but the cost is not cheap.

ThinkPad 13
Intel Core i5-6200U Processor
Intel HD Graphics
8GB DDR4-2133 (1 of 2 slot)
256GB SSD
13.3" FHD IPS anti-glare
Fingerprint reader, mediacard reader, 3 x USB 3.0, 1x USB Type-C, HDMI, Onelink dock connector
Intel 8260AC + Bluetooth
Windows 10 Professional 64
3 Years On-Site Warranty
$1599

The ThinkPad 13 is a better value with 3 years warranty, more USB ports, dedicated HDMI out. XPS 13 if not wrong only USB Type C and needs convertor for any video out, and only 1 year warranty
