ThinkPad 13
Intel Core i5-6200U Processor
Intel HD Graphics
8GB DDR4-2133 (1 of 2 slot)
256GB SSD
13.3" FHD IPS anti-glare
Fingerprint reader, mediacard reader, 3 x USB 3.0, 1x USB Type-C, HDMI, Onelink dock connector
Intel 8260AC + Bluetooth
Windows 10 Professional 64
3 Years On-Site Warranty
$1599

The ThinkPad 13 is a better value with 3 years warranty, more USB ports, dedicated HDMI out. XPS 13 if not wrong only USB Type C and needs convertor for any video out, and only 1 year warranty

up - any source to buy ?

Checked on Lenovo online site : http://shopap.lenovo.com/, when placed order from this model, in the customise section, you can choose 1 to 5 years on whether next business day/back to depot etc. So yes there is warranty more that a year but the cost is not cheap.

http://shopap.lenovo.com/sg/en/laptops/thinkpad/13-series/13-windows/

It doesn't allow me to select more than one year. And the 1920x1080 FHD screen changes the shipping forecast to more than 4 weeks!!!

EDIT: I found the option to change warranty, but thee shipping is still more than 4 weeks!!

i went to the Dell store in Funan - that was the price they quote me. initially was 1699, then I ask any discounts, after checking they say can offer 100 dollars discount.

XPS13 8gb ram + touch glass screen for 1599 after discount?

EDIT: Is the Thinkpad 13 silver or black? The Lenovo SG website shows silver, however the brochure for the recent IT fair shows black (link)

XPS no touch screen. after discount 1599 at Funan. Seriously at this screen size, i prefer no touch.

Thinkpad is black and I didn't ask for other colours, where else XPS only got silver. Go down the stores to ask better, seems like the prices and specs keep changing, and the system takes some time to update too.

your buying 13 inch laptop too? whats your choices?

TBH i feel dell xps at 1.6k is quite worth it (for my use which is for studying). I already have a desktop at home so just want a really small profile lappie to bring to sch. And dell pro warranty is pretty good from what I hear, That said I wanna try out surface pro (which I have at hand) for a while before taking the plunge #indecisive :p

I was looking at the XPS13 (>$2k for the specs) with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. Then I found your thread talking about the Thinkpad 13.

I'm thinking of giving up the backlit keyboard of the XPS13 for the Thinkpad 13. There are also complaints of coil whine (buzzing noise) for the XPS13.

I got the brochure from the shop for the ThinkPad. Seems like it is a new product call ThinkPad Classic 13. Any other reason for picking ThinkPad 13 over XPS ?

Black only for Singapore. Build quality is inferior to the silver one. XPS13 touch screen only on the $2799 i7.

It's called ThinkPad 13. There's no "Classic" anywhere. Have any of you guys physically compared the 13 to the regular ThinkPads? The build quality is very different.

My friend bought the asus UX305 at the pc show. 1098. Good price. Battery wise also not bad. Around 7 to 8 hrs with wifi and MS office. Only heard praises from him so far.

Btw Asus launching new Asus Zenbook 3. But i tried Asus laptop b4. Within 3 years spoil, customer service was also non existence..

Even on the laptop itself it just says "13".

As for build quality, you really have to go compare physically because they look very similar. I also didn't believe until I compared the T460 and the 13 side by side. One is built like a tank the other is just a consumer laptop in matte black. :s13:

same brochure I got this week - just that theres a "classic" added.

my headache part is that i need the laptop to have a HDMI port on the left side to connect to my Dell Screen - this left me with fewer choice. XPS no HDMI - sian.

Consider the Dell Latitude e7470? The HDMI port is at the back of laptop.
