2.5" HDD. sometimes cannot read.

it is a western digital hdd. i'm not sure if it is hdd failure or enclosure failure. i had a previous WD 2.5" that fails too.

rite now, i noticed that sometimes some computer had difficulty reading and detecting it. but sometimes it does read and the data inside is intact.

i use a short usb3 cable (about 40-50cm) for easier carrying around, but at home i had another usb cable extension (ie 2 wires). could it be due to the poor quality of the extension cable?

should i have bought hdd/enclosure/cables separately and is there any good recommendations?

less frequent. but still happens.

i'm now using a pc. previously using imac. also had similar problems. dunno where is the bottleneck.

Hello zoossh,

In this case, you should send it back to RMA your hdd. It will be no problem if you using the extension cable, better use back the cable that comes with the hdd.
