flight departs at 8am, check in at 5.30am. the drive from Hakone to Narita Airport takes 2 hours. so you are going to set off at 3am with 3 kids in tow?
I had planned to drive to the airport at about 11pm and perhaps camp over at the capsule hotel.
However, if i am not able to return car at night, perhaps the itinerary have to replan again.

We are actually open to rearranging Disney, Tokyo and Hakone sequence. Initially had wanted to do Disney, Hakone and then Tokyo, but as the flight back is early morning, thus we thought we can drive straight to airport from Hakone and camp over till the flight back. Thus Hakone is on our last. Any thoughts?
As mentioned by others, Hakone to Narita takes a while to drive n have to return the car etc
Might not be so feasible for 8am flight.

Maybe can consider last day at Narita town.
Quite a lot to see there, with a traditional street, temple, gardens, big mall and public onsen type bath house.
Just takes at most 30min by shuttle or 15 min taxi to airport.

Hi,
I didn't know narita town have things to see.
Will take note of it and perhaps stay a night there.
I may have to plan again for the Hakone trip. Or perhaps it will be better to go to Hakone direct from the airport? This way I can go Tokyo after Hakone, then to disneyland and then to Narita town and next morning head back to the airport.
Do you think this works better?
Thanks

Do u plan to drive from Narita airport to Hakone?

How long do u plan to stay in Hakone? 2 days?

One option u can consider
- airport to Tokyo via train
- send luggage to disney hotel using luggage service(they pick up at the hotel n need maybe 2 days to deliver)
- stay in Hakone with daypacks for 1 or 2 nights n then go to disney hotel.
- disney for 2 days
- narita town 1 day
- leave for sg

Hi,
I am looking at 2-3 days at Hakone and Mt fuji as well.
Will look into the luggage thing. As I may be staying in Tokyo bay instead of Disney hotel.
I read that there are luggage locker in train station as well.
Will you advise Hakone, Tokyo, Disney, Narita?
Thanks

That's what I planned. I understand the first day will be quite siong. Plane touch down 630am. So I thought might as well do it on the first day.
Yes been to Tokyo, Osaka and hokkaido before and do trips to other cities as well.
Yes will be the only driver as usual.
Are you going to stay at Disney's hotel or one of the hotels in the bay area? Disney will be crowded by the time you reach and you could realistically reach Disney closer to 12pm since you're landing in NRT and factor in some time with clearing immigration. If they're older kids I guess it's not so bad but I'd personally leave Disney for Day 2 & 3.

Luggage lockers is usually for a few hours n can be limited because other tourists will use them too.

Can use those luggage lockers for the day while u sightsee.

Tokyo Bay hotels are close to Disneyland, just a short disneytrain ride such as Hilton Tokyo Bay hotel.
I think might be 100jpy per ride. Only cash though.

I would go
1.Tokyo for a week
- send bags to Tokyo bay hotel at end of stay.
2. Spend a few days with light backpack in Hakone
3. Tokyo Bay hotel and Disneyland/disneysea
4. Narita town for a day
- via Airport bus from Tokyo bay area hotels to Narita airport.
5. If flight is early at 8am, can just call for a taxi to airport.
Fare wouldnt be high as airport is close by.

For the itinerary, dont need to drive, can just use public transport train n buses.

Am looking at one of the hotel in the bay area.
I thought can reach Disney land closer to 8-9am since touch down at about 6-7am thereabout.
Is the custom clearance very slow?
Maybe I am too ambitious on my timing.
I can do day 2 and 3 for Disney, but day 1? Where should I stay?
As I am trying to minimise travelling with luggage to different hotel.
Thanks

Hi,
Can I check with you do you mean
Upon arrival, stay on Tokyo first? Then send excess luggages to hotel in Tokyo bay. From Tokyo can travel to Hakone, then when back from Hakone, go Disney land and last night stay near narita airport?
How can I get bags/luggage from Tokyo to Tokyo bay hotel? Where do i enquire on this service?
And for Hakone and mt fuji, you don't suggest self drive? Public transport is easily accessible?
We can do public transport if this is the preferred mode of transportation.
Thanks

Ya on arrival, spend the week in tokyo.

On day before checkout, let the hotel know u want to use luggage service to send your big luggages to the Tokyo Bay hotel.
The hotel should know about the luggage forwarding service, common in Japan.
On day of checkout, leave your big luggages with hotel n pay the fee for sending to Tokyo bay hotel.

There is more info on luggage forwarding on this thread

After Hakone, just go straight to the Tokyo bay hotel n check in.
Let them know about the big luggages n collect your big luggages at the hotel.

Hakone n Mt Fuji, u can drive if u want but i think public transport is easier n u dont have to worry about parking, car n return car.

Ya suggested Narita town for last day as your flight to sg leaves at 8am which is quite early.

If stay near the airport, dont have to wake up so early n less chance of interruption when getting to airport.
Less stress too.

Hi guys
I am planning the itinerary for my family this coming Jul 2023.
My plane will touch down 615am narita airport and I plan to head straight to Disney land and stay nearby hotel for 2 nights.
Anyone been this route and is it manageable?
After 2 nights here will go over Tokyo for about 8 nights and then rent a car to Hakone and mt fuji.
As my flight back is in the morning 8.15am. Thus we decide on return the car in narita airport during out drive back from mt fuji.
Anyone have any advice for my planned itinerary?
Thanks and appreciated.

wah. quite similar to me. but im going end may/early june. also 3 kids (all below 6) and also from narita to disney.

now researching too so your post is timely

Since you are bringing your kids outside of school holidays I assume they are still pre-schoolers, if they are older can ignore my next 2 paragraphs.

Japan is quite a stickler for rules, so all kids below 6 will need a car seat or booster seat before the rental company lets you set off. If you had a chance to get them used to a car or baby seat before the trip it will make the driving portion of your trip a lot smoother, however if my own children are any indication buckling them up in a row in the backseat will definitely invite screaming matches, so be prepared with distractions.

Many attractions at Disneyland and Disneysea have height restrictions so young kids won't be able to ride or you need to do swapping when it gets to your turn. It may make the experience less pleasant in July queues unless you constantly bribe them with churros and popcorn. You can consider the indoor theme parks instead. They usually cater to younger children and are more family friendly.

With regards to the car rental:

Your suggested driving itinerary would incur a one way fee (5000-7000 depending on car type) as Tokyo city is separate from Narita prefecture which is where Narita airport is located.

The other issue is the opening hours of the rental company you intend to return to. I don't believe any of them are open 24 hours and all returns are off-site, with shuttle bus to Narita airport on a best effort basis upon return. I would suggest checking in to one of the hotels near Narita airport then return the car the night before, and take the hotel shuttle bus to Narita airport to minimise hassle with regards to luggage and the children.

Personally that's why for my current trips I'd prefer Scoot out and Zipair back to min-max our time in Tokyo if the flight schedules remain the same.
could u share the indoor theme parks I could go?
thanks
