quality macam youtube 1080p quality. any big or major diff if play on 4k led tv or 4k oled tv?
Hard to explain to such a question.
I have a 4K LED TV and a 4K OLED TV. Both from LG.
LG's TV does their own upsizing of low res contents including Live TV viewing. The quality improvement is quite observable when comparing to a 1080p LED TV.
The difference for getting an OLED TV versus a normal 4K TV is that we do not know whether some other brand of 4K TV models does upsample low res content to 4K.
Secondly, all the differences that sets an OLED TV apart from normal LCD based TV that you can find literally anywhere about it.
Any TVs other than OLED no matter what backlight technique they employ be it Full Array Local Dimming (FALD) or Edge-Lit can never meet the sheer different experience.
A simple test to do is to project your PC to your TV and then have a black background. Immediately, you will see the difference where there is literally no backlight shining through the blackness making your room completely dark with no way of telling where your TV is. Whereas, depending on which method an LCD TV uses, will have a shimmering black due to the backlight.
If you think the mid range Sony X9000 TVs are good and worth paying a higher price than even the LG OLED C7, try running your mouse around on a black background and be disgusted with a halo effect around your arrow versus just a floating arrow on the black screen. And even worse, on other LCD displays that doesn't have FALD and just use local dimming, watch as a huge row from top to bottom halo be light up just to shine a tiny little mouse on a 4K panel. That is just hilarious to see.
If you want a valid reason to buy an OLED, let me say this. Most of us are working. We'll come home in the evening. So most of our TV viewing probably takes place at night. This is where OLED makes sense for the most of us as the stark difference between light and dark can be seen even in SDR as long as the video source meant to have no light shining there.
Say goodbye to shimmering blacks. Finally shows like Star Trek really looks like you are in a dark space and not a dark grey space.
Also, this is probably why you think there is no difference if you were to view it at the shops. It is a brightly lit area. That is how they disguise the shimmering blacks on LCD TVs caused by the backlight. As the room is so bright that the backlight will not be as visible.
Our home lighting should not be that bright and even with my LED ceiling light turned on, I can still see the backlight throughout the entire side of the screen where there is any source of image being shone at the TV.
And if you think the nits of brightness is important, sure. That is your preference. But I would prefer not to burn my retinas like I would if I see the sun directly after a dimly lit scene let say a batman car chase and all of a sudden, they show the light from the helicopter that shines right at the camera as it passes by. Have fun being blinded with a 4000 nit TV vs a 1000 nit TV which I generally find is the sweet spot for my tolerance of brightness that I already experienced when watching HDR on it.
And in this regard, most of the time, you'll probably be watching a HDR video encoded for 1000 nits and... most of the time, we will be watching SDR content which will only need 100-200 nits. So yup, OLED makes more sense in these regards.
