i believe if you can go Google rtings viewing distance vs resolution chart

from there u can see whether 4k is worth for u

Thanks. Yeah have seen this chart but not sure if conclusive or if others have some alternative experiences. But based on chart, 1080 seems adequate for my viewing distance.

But also wanted sense on how good the C7 upscaling processing for SD, 720 and 1080 is to 4K. Reviews online a bit mixed.

to be honest, my experience with upscaling does make difference but to notice is actually quite difficult. (1080p to 2k at 50cm distance)

so for ur case, I feel unless u buy a bigger tv like 65" then 4k is a must.

LG 67

Hi Looking to buy LG C7 - not sure where to get the $2500 deals. Also appreciated if anyone can tell if possible to view movies/photos in multiple formats from NAS as Kodi is not available.

Is it worth going for 65C7 now or get 55 now and later upgrade to 65 in a few years?

Thanks.

should determine screen size by your viewing distance.

Actually depends on your viewing distance but either 55 or 65 is selling at a good price outside now.

Go for as large as possible. I watch a 120" screen from 4m. So 65" isn't too big for sure.

i disagree the working part.

just buy a curtain so u can use oled TV even if the sun is burning.

should always watch oled TV in absolute darkness.

Try to avoid total darkness.. it's bad for your eyes. Use a small ambient light. Cheers

I'll be watching 55" from just under 3m viewing distance. Questions:
- how good is the upscaling of SD, 720 or 1080 to 4K on the C7? Would this be better than any upscaling of content to 1080 on the A7?

- will rarely watch "real" 4K content. Would getting C7 with 4K upscaling capability make an impactful difference vs. watching native or upscaled 1080 on A7?

Thank you experts.
True 1080p bluray content looks very good on the LG C7. SD and 720 looks terrible, to my eyes, Sony handles upscaling better than LG.

You can demo this at any TV retailer, ask them to put on some SD and even local mediacorp HD stuff.

My 2 cents - OLED is fantastic for movie buffs. If you are NOT a movie buff, but the everyday casual tv couch surfer type who watches tv with living room lights on, you will not be able to fully appreciate the deep blacks of an LED - it is simply not discernable once you have a lot of ambient lighting in your room. If your room is extremely bright, the relatively low brightness of OLED - relative to traditional LED screens - will actually look dim to you.

OLED is significantly brighter than the vast majority of all current LED TV models out there today.

You are referring to which model? 2016 OLED?

The C7 goes brighter than what I am most comfortable with it being only at 50% OLED light on SDR content vs my IPS monitor at 27% brightness.

For curiosity sake, I blast the OLED light to 100% as well as monitor brightness to 100%. Guess which one wins and lights up the room? Besides the bigger size, the brightness did not even light up my black keyboard vs my TV that light up the black soundbar easily.

I guess it is nice to speculate without actually having to own one and compare it side by side.

No worries. He is justifying having purchased a mid range Sony X9000 TV thinking that burn-in is a serious problem plaguing a lot of OLED TVs that you and I have.

Quoted from HWZ's post.
Moving down the lineup, we also have the mid-range X90E, X85E, and X80E series (a.k.a. X9000E, X8500E, and X8000E respectively).

ips has different types of ips.

anyways, oled has the brightness that's more than enuff, i personally do not think brightness shld be a consideration

unless you literally have a sun facing towards ur tv.

the good reason you would nt wan oled tv is

price, burn in image, u always game and watch tv shows, sports, anime.

Our perception of black levels is greatly affected by ambient lighting.

That is the greatest strength of OLED - true black. But once the ambient lighting is turned up, a lot of that advantage is lost. You can do a simple test on your tv/monitor. Turn on/off your room lights and see how the same black borders in the movie appear. As ambient light increases, the ability to perceive black levels drops. That's just how our eyes operate.

OLED is dimmer than LED. The data doesn't lie. Just go to rtings.com and compare OLED and LED TV reviews - the section on SDR/HDR brightness. But we're making rapid gains in OLED tech and I'm sure one day this point will be moot.

Where OLED is far superior is in its infinite contrast levels, which LED is inherently never able to achieve. Because of this great contrast advantage, the OLED brightness trade-off is in the eyes of many people, worth it.

Perhaps one reason why OLED 'appears' brighter is because of the amazing contrast levels. But contrast and brightness are not the same thing.

edit: about oled brightness, i am not saying it is not bright enough. My point is it's not as bright as LED - which is a completely different point.

go check yourself, the numbers indeed don't lie, more today's LED TV models are dimmer than today's OLED models.

does it really matter whether more led or oled is brighter?

ultimately not all oled is brighter than led and vice versa.

Anyone use with Max brightness
For oled or lcd ?
As far that the tv meet hdr spec
I think it should be alright
If compare the pricing
From Amazon USA
X900e 999usd vs c7 1600usd
I will pick x900e for sure
But in sg
X900e is 2850 with PS4
C7 is 2500

Went thru the dilemma while picking my tv, spend 3 months for research
Lol

the point of this is not debating which is better, it's fact checking a statement by noinimod. which is the same as what you have just done in your 2nd sentence, meaning you are correcting the same statement by noinimod.
