Ok I got the drive to work after formatting it to ntfs. But some of my 1080p mkv videos stutter!

And the sound only can be heard if I use the TV’s default sound. I use a Bose sound bar which works perfectly with my PS4, but why doesn’t the MKV sound play through the sound bar as well?

Check if the sound track format is supported by the tv, if no there shld b a msg pop up saying so. Check if tv output sound via ARC to soundbar. Btw is ps4 connected to soundbar or tv? I stream many mkv files so far ok

The soundbar is connected to the TV via optical cable.

PS4 connected to tv via HDMI, Hard drive connected to TV via USB

So by right the Soundbar can be used by all devices right?

Bose no HDMI? Optical can’t pass thru some audio format if not wrong.

That is because the PS4 can let you get only Dolby Surround 5.1 or AAC format if you wish. Something that your TV and/or your Bose speakers is able to decode.

But if your MKV file has a DTS HD-MA 7.1 surround, your TV clearly does not support it so you can try to let your TV do a passthrough. But if your BOSE speakers cannot decode the format, then of cos there'll be no sound. You are not the first person coming here to report of their Bose speakers getting no audio.
Remember. Certain DTS formats are not accepted by the TV so even if you try to get a 2.0 AAC signal for your TV to decode, it just will not do it.

Get a proper speaker that can decode such signals of the movies you want to watch.
Even my Logitech Z906 speakers are able to accept a newer DTS and Dolby format such as a Dolby Atmos 7.1 signal downscaled to 5.1 running via optical from the TV with the TV set to Passthrough.

Haha ok thanks. I have my whole home theatre set up at my other place, so I guess I have to bring it over if I want to enjoy the movies.

Unless I just stick to watching Netflix on the tv, then no problem

What's the best way to play 4k Blu Ray Remux MKV files on this tv?

I used my usb3.0 external hard disk to connect to the TV to play the file, but it's stuttering. Is the bottleneck the slow 5400rpm hard disk, or the usb 3.0 connection?

The installer just came to mount my c7 which I bought a few mths ago. However it cannot BT pair with the LG SJ8 sound bar after trying many times, even thought it can detect it. Using hp to pair with the SJ8 has no issue. Anyone know what is the issue?

IF: LG 55B6 OLED brand-new is available today, what is a reasonable price?

Let's say LG 55B6 OLED brand-new/unused is available today, what is a reasonable price to pay for 1?

Wah 918+ too overkill for me.

Will 218play or 218+ be able to do the job with those big 4K remux files?

I dun tink is abt files size but video bit rate... I encounter 1 file tats has high bit rates so sometimes the video stutters coz it’s more than the fast Ethernet port can support, I know coz I played the same file on laptop n check the streaming speed. But usb3 hdd I believe shld b able to support >100mbps n shldn’t stutter. But I no expert just sharing wat I experienced.
