hey you're absolutely right. I spotted three sets of C7 with a line in between indicating burn in. now I'm truly puzzled over which tv to buy.

I tried googling for the said issue but majority claimed no such issue except for the temporary image retention though. I was shown a particularly bad burn in issue on a LG display set which convinced me to go for QLED.

Think most claims are from B6 generation, some are c7. You can check out from youtube comments, there are quite a few.

B6 user here.....use heavily everyday......zero problems.

I do believe OLED still have a room to improve especially from the price point.

He mentions OLED 80% sure have burn-in, especially long gaming and TV watching.. Hmm dunno true or not leh.

That's why Samsung's QLED dare to give 10 year warranty.

why do you want to get something lousier (in terms of picture quality and performance) even if it's 10 years warranty ? you buy a TV to enjoy right ?

10 years warranty?? u better read the terms carefully... on site or u need to lug the tv to the service center.. LOL... need to resort to this extreme method means their sales for QLED dammed bad.... OLED is still a leading sales in many many countries included USA

I heard Samsung is giving more monetary incentives to 'encourage' the sales people to push out those QLED TVs.

That is main reason why you will always get those sales staff in BEST DENKI, Harvey Norman, Audio House etc telling you 'Samsung QLED is superior'.

Sure, is to enjoy but pocket is also important. Certainly you do want something expensive but last only 3 to 5 years. assuming a $3000 TV, last you 5 years. Each years is about $600 or $2/day (minus other expenses eg power consumption and any servicing/repair cost).

If this is acceptable, go for it. But we should not have thinking in mind that new product will not last, this indirectly telling maker do not need to focus on quality since technology/model changed every year anyway. This make thing worse as when new model/technology launch, it is going to make it cheaper, or cheaper vs features you are going to get.

So in net, if you are the one focus in technology. The more you should not jump in and higher price point, as that burn your hard earn money.

I think both brand gives the same. It depend time of day of your visit. These sales people you mention are actually brand promoters.

Have been using the 2016 LG Oled for close to a year.

Watch a variety of content with black bars on top, bottom and sides, and Singtel tv content with static logos.

So far, so good. No signs of any burn in.

Eh! Don't get tricked by the link. It's a 10 year 'no screen burn-in' warranty.
But the thing is this; LCD based TVs are using inorganic materials. They almost NEVER ever get burn-in.

You will never be able to use the screen burn-in warranty even after 10 years. That is just a way to promote their TVs like as if they have a 10 year TV warranty. But it is not hor. Read properly and don't get tricked. Marketing people are always the worst in any industry exploiting even warranties to manipulate the masses who are not reading in between the lines. Careful not to fall for their marketing scheme.

Also, take note, the Samsung QLED Q7F has a 5 year display warranty.
Plus, as you can see Samsung's aggressive marketing includes changing the name from Quantum Dot VA panel TV displays to QLED in the hopes to again confuse the masses who are not very tech savvy. So just be careful not to fall for their manipulation with words.

Have a read here in regards to Samsung's nonsensical 10 year screen burn-in warranty which will never even happen at all and as I have explained, is just a marketing trickery to confuse the uninformed masses of the tech world and especially those who don't understand how organic and inorganic display technologies work.
