Been using the 3XL since Monday. Would have gotten it sooner but there was a mix up with Singtel. Due to the delayed shipment of the white/pink models ; I opted to switch my order from White to Black but the online form I used to submit my info with was managed exclusively by their e commerce team so no one from the call center was able to provide any info. After submitting the form agreeing to change to the black model last Thursday I was informed that I would be receiving an sms confirmation "shortly". When "shortly" never arrived, I called the 1688 hotline and no one had any clue what I was talking about, someone even asked me to call the Google hotline. In any case, someone called me to resolve the issue and reschedule delivery. I got the phone just 3 days after the original delivery date so it's not much of an issue. I'm supposed to be getting free 1gb data plus a "customised" 3xl case although I'm not sure how that's going to happen.

First impressions on the 3XL

- lack of Panda colour scheme made the switch to black really easy.

- screen feels like a huge leap from the 2xl to be honest.

- miss having a nav bar and I'm still trying to get used to swiping up to access the app drawer

- the notch is there and it's huge but it's unobtrusive for how I use this phone, which is mainly just for Web, texting and emails.

- snappy performance is a given, but my Pixel 2xl suffered from massive slowdowns after 7 months, so I'm cautiously optimistic for this one

- audio sounds a little more muffled compared to the 2xl

- camera is great as usual and notch is a worthy price to pay for the front cam

- standby battery time seems worse than the 2xl

Don't bother calling that number they gave. I called and was deeply disappointed and frustrated.

Singtel told us to speak to Google. Google told me to speak to singtel. 2 crap companies. Pui.

The information on their website posted on 30 oct already more than a week old. No interim updates or anything, they really think our money jin ho pian.

I think you can use Google's store as an indicator. So far if you try to buy a 128gb White XL they say tentative 28 November.

And singtel CSO when I call in tell me the latest date they have in system is 21 Nov.

This CSO I spoke to even told me say this week maybe shipment will reach. Already Wednesday liao. I think gone case liao -_-

I don't think anyone can answer that. Phone performance can depend on so many things. It could be from heavy usage (tons of apps installed and running in background), it could be hardware, it could be from software bugs.

If you're talking about the issue MKBHD, Artem brought up about their Pixel 2 slowing down, I can tell you that on the other side of the coin, my Pixel 2 has been performing just fine, and it feels as snappy as it did when i first got it.

But all that aside, the fact is that the SD845 is not clocked as high as other android phones, there isn't as much thermal management going on? (samsung, OnePlus, etc doing like vapour cooling), and the RAM is 4GB.

So if you're a super heavy user, you're going to reach the performance limit of the phone sooner than you would on a phone like the OnePlus 6T. Google can optimise the sh!t out of Android of course, but it has its limitations.

But for my usage, even the Pixel 2's performance is more than good enough already.

TL;DR version.... YMMV.

wait for them to fix the ram management on dec update.. who knows maybe even smoother experience overall.

I think Singtel also cannot do much as this is Google's logistics problem. They are taking in all the bullets from the customers. Poor Singtel.
