Hahah wait for them to resolve this issue during software updates lor. Hopefully the future software will resolve the mic issue as well.

Sent from Google PIXEL using GAGT

MIC issue? U mean when taking video one?

I have issue with the volume of notification/ring/alarm, do you have that? It's kinda soft for me, youtube/fb videos are ok though.

TBH, new phones are going to have awry battery, there is no escaping it. After a few days, your battery will stable one. If google screws this up again, then we just have to wait for them to bloody fix it.

yeah, I know that new phone need to wait a few days to adjust. So while adjusting, should I leave AD on to try out? Or it doesn't matter during the adjustment?

Try putting on a case... should help in the comfort department

I looked at Dbrand but it looks cool but the putting on of the "skin" is really daunting. So unless someone helps me to, I don't think I'll get it.

Looking at google case but it's $60 so still thinking of other options first.

Any recommendation? I prefer those slick kind, as in not bulky one.

Oh, I disable it already. Used too much battery liao la. Like that who the heck will enables it.

Anyway, the phone is kinda smaller than Nexus5x. Just a little bit too small for my hand to hold, so feel abit hard to hold.
May need some time to adjust, will see how it goes.

Its still a good feature imo. Can show more stuffs would be better. Or like able to customize what users want on aod.

Maybe someone with pixel 3 xl can share some battery consumption of their aod over the night.

It was about 1% per hour for my pixel 2 xl when i sleep at night with aod. Considering my pixel 2 xl has larger battery capacity than your pixel 3, sounds about right.

Do note aod is also affected by ambient light if you have adaptive brightness on. So aod during say e.g. daytime where light is constantly shining at the sensors would consume more battery than at night when its pitch black.

Yeah, I do have AB turned on last night with AD. The drop of 10% for about 7hrs is only during my sleep, and not during the daytime. My room isn't pitch dark though. Never close window curtain. But still consider almost "pitch dark" i'll say.

Yeah, I kinda like that feature but if it's that draining then I rather not to have it. :s13::s13:

Maybe someone else can share their non XL and XL AoD overnight?

Seems that it's draining abit on the battery life. So I prefer to turn it off.

Maybe wait for others to share their figures or if really suspect your set has battery drain issue, send it back for checks or get new set?

Its really a bummer when i know of people who buy latest gadgets etc cos of nice display etc but then later disable or use their phones in pitch darkness. I ask them why set so low brightness until you cant see? They say cos consume battery fast so set very low brightness :s22:

Or maybe give your pixel 3 some time to learn your battery usage patterns etc if you have adaptive battery on.

With that said, i dont use adaptive battery. Only adaptive brightness.

You try & update us as it goes? :s13: afterall some of us dont have pixel 3/xl to test.

But my 1% per hour of idle with wifi, mobile data, location, sounds, notifications, aod on is pretty stable results i am getting on my pixel 2 xl.

The fabric case for pixel 2 is pretty good to the touch. Maybe u can look to see if anyone selling theirs. Perhaps some users got it along with their purchase but dont want it.

I last time when bought my pixel 2 xl, tempted to buy case. Went to try one of spigen ones. But dont like it as the material is rubbery. Cause a lot of resistance when sliding my phone into the jeans pocket. Within 3 days i couldnt get used to it and dumped it.

For tgsp, i been using my pixel 2 xl naked. Just be careful not to drop can already. Still as good as new.

Good thing about using it naked is anytime can take it for a wash whenever i like it. Easy wash and wipe clean :s13:

Take all these as a pinch of salt. Only real world usage based our own experience is the truth. :s12:

Real world usage is YMMV. Like buying and eating a bag of 10kg rice. How fast it runs out depends on your consumption or use case. However you still want to have objective testing in order to determine the operational characteristics of the device based on its claimed specifications.

I like naked actually, been doing that since Nexus 5 or earlier.

Wash? As in put inside a pail of water to wash?

I tried using fixed brightness during Oreo days. But sometimes during the day under bright sunlight really cant see. So decided to use the adaptive brightness let it adjust accordingly. Pie's adaptive brightness will also learn from user input. So if the adaptive brightness set it to e.g. 80% u can manually adjust it to teach it to set to your desired level. So next time under same lightning condition it'll be at the level you prefer

Not soak in pail kind. Just tap water. For more persistent oil marks or etc use alcohol swabs give it a good wipe.

Congrats! haha. looks like i'm one of the more unlucky ones around. uneven tint on screen, and still no pixel stand. hahaha. DP by singtel and google at the same time.

I'm not that lucky after all. I did some more tests and noticed that my panel has an uneven tint too. It's not nearly as bad as your first unit, and one would really have to look a bit for it, but it's definitely there, - reddish at the bottom and greenish at the top. Most noticeable on grey backgrounds on low brightness.

I'm thinking of trying my luck with the exchange, but also concerned that the exchanged unit will be even worse.
