The call screen function is available in Singapore, albeit unofficially. There's a post a few pages back on how to activate it or can just do a search on xda developers. I have been using it for a few days already; people are usually caught unaware and not sure how to respond. Works like a charm though if they respond. This feature is the main reason I'm staying with the pixel line of phone because it fits my usage style.

but you have to root the phone right? I am not comfortable rooting a few days old phone

Haha yeah require root. Root for me is the first thing to do for any phone

Just to quantify, the work around is for the pixel 2 but I don't think it's any difference for pixel 3. I just want to try out the various functions before I get the 3.

same for me too I always root. but how do you get around bank's internet banking app login? I can't use UOB Mighty Secure app on my phone. When I spoke to uob about this they are not helping. all rooted phones can't use the app. and it's a matter of time before they completely phase out secure tokens and use your phone as the tokens to log in to your bank acct. and according to uob this is what other banks are doing too. you. guys encounter such problems?

Don't use uob so can't comment on that but no issues for dbs and Citibank. Magisk hide function works very well to hide root from these apps. Citibank gives me some small hiccups sometimes but no major issues.

I dont use night light so cant comment on it much.

Since you do not use ambient display, meaning to say at night your screen should be off regardless of whether night light is on or not i think?

Or you mean to say that you dont lock phone and just keep it awake and use night light?

For dark mode, settings > display > device theme > dark mode

Night Light, Dark Modes for apps and even Gboard with dark themes, according to Google itself, conserves substantial amount of battery.
