An update on my experience at CTDI earlier to exchange my randomly flickering Pixel 3.

My current set is the 5th which I am satisfied with, since I received my very first set on 3 Nov. All the sets which have gone through my hands were brand new sets which I have opened/deflowered. Testing of the panel was done using grey wallpaper and grey screens of the "Display Tester" app in Google Play.

Stinktel sets:
1st set - uneven tint. Exchanged 2nd set with Stinktel within 7 days of collection.

2nd set - The one with flickering green artifacts, and which made me go down to CTDI. Screen evenness was ok, or so I thought! More on that below. So the flickering issue didn't show up so I showed the supervisor my recorded video of the issue. He was still sheepish and said he couldn't do anything if it doesn't show up in person, but he went ahead to do some diagnostics. All this time I reasoned with him, and luckily for me, the supervisor highlighted to me a very faint uneven patch at the center of the display, which was probably why it wasn't that obvious to me when I was using it. Now, I'm not sure if the flickering caused damage to the screen so I didn't see it before, but the good thing is that he said he will help me, and let me open a new set on grounds of this issue.

So yay, my first unboxing experience at CTDI begins!

CTDI sets:
3rd set - Could still see uneven tint. But not *too* bad. This set made me realise the clickiness of the power button of my 2nd set was sh*t in comparison. Opened 4th set because of the uneven tint.

4th set - Easily the worst display right off the bat. Massive screen tint unevenness. Opened 5th set. This time the supervisor went into his 2nd batch stock.

5th set - Perfect screen from what I can see. Very clicky and satisfying buttons. So far everything is rosy. We'll see if it holds up.

All in all, I spent 1.5 hours at CTDI. The supervisor was very understanding, pleasant and understanding to work with, and he told me that if there are still any issues, all Pixel 3 owners have until 1 Jan 2019 to do 1-1 exchanges. So that's one thing that's done right. He also said that so far the vast majority of issues were with the smaller Pixel 3's display, screen unevenness easily taking top placing and he has encountered customers complaining about flickering displays like I did too.

Anyways, all this pretty much points to the fact that yes, the QC and variance tolerance of LG panels is still fu*cked up in comparison to Samsung. But at least the service recovery by CTDI is top notch from my own experience. Apologies for the WOT but I think sharing this will help fellow bros here. :)

anyone tried taking slow motion video on 3XL in a quiet room and notice a faint hissing tone at the background.

Nice.. they allow you to 1-to-1 exchange until you find a good one. But I suppose yours is a black set and they probably don't have an White sets for the time being? Haha

The supervisor in charge plays a big part too. Because this uneven screen issue can be so slight, yet still noticeable if you look carefully, the manager in charge can easily say that the set looks fine to him. Yeah I guess they have black sets so I could play tikam tikam for 1.5 hours. :s22:

Really TL with Google loh. Can save $100.

But look from another point of view... If can tahan longer and wait for all colors to be available, get Pixel 3/3 XL from mobile shops is still cheaper than BF deal. Unless you re-contract.

Shops now selling Pixel 3 XL $1,380 as compared to Google store $1,549 (BF $1,449). And the extra band cgharges.

Eh the local shop prices are lower than Google store leh. Why are people buying from the online store?

I dunno if there is a different team handling our cases compared to the ang moh countries. I reported an issue on low ringing volume and they eventually ask me to replace. Every issue also ask you to replace, lol.

If you looked on reddit, some support from the ang moh countries will recognise it as a software issue to be resolved.

Sent from Google PIXEL 3 using GAGT

Anyone experience this? Its more like you can activate google assistant with voice match the 1st time then it wont respond for the 2nd "Hey / Ok Google"... if you exit assistant, it will repeat..only respond to the 1st "Hey / Ok Google" only...
