When i use my apple and samsung device i just swipe down in the middle to do a search but if i swipe down in he middle of the sceeen using this pixel 3 it doesnt do any search, no reaction at all. Any advise?

I honestly think you should go back to an iPhone or be like me, have the best of both worlds. There are certain limitations to Android just like iOS. Can't expect best of both worlds in one OS.

I expected better lor but I was wrong. After so many years even after revamping the UI the stutter is still there. Samsung will always be Samsung. I think HTC also won't stutter or lag as bad as Samsung

I honestly think you should go back to an iPhone or be like me, have the best of both worlds. There are certain limitations to Android just like iOS. Can't expect best of both worlds in one OS.

I found that my HUAWEI phone can do that as well.. because pixel is stock Android, you can try other launcher..

Pixel phone is a Google phone. You can expect a Pixel phone to be the easiest phone to do a search. And indeed, there's a Google search bar that's permanently at the bottom on your home screen and Overview screen, and one more permanently at the top in the app drawer. You don't even need to do a swipe gesture. Just search directly! Otherwise, just squeeze and ask Google Assistant.

But if you really, really, die, die, must have a swipe down gesture, try Nova Launcher. You can have a lot of customisable gestures with Nova Launcher.

Squeezing the phone while u are typing on the keyboard seems troublesome..

If using Android Pie's gestures on the pixel, almost anywhere, a swipe up will bring up the app view, which also has a google search bar.

Instead of swipe down, but up should essentially be the same too.

Then you can be like me. Hold both an iPhone and a pixel. But if you can't do that then maybe you should either start adapting to your pixel or go back to an iPhone.

People customize their Android phones for fun or to suit their needs (like not wanting to press the power button to lock the phone) but I don't think I have seen any of the bros here trying to customize their pixel to mimic an iPhone.
