You still get to book out for the public holiday, so your confinement period is shorter.

No way can book out:)

During my nsf time,I seen too many pple get confinement cannot book out;)

Confinement is a punishment:D

I am pretty sure the reference is to the initial “confinement” period not the punishment

Just a heads up. You want your son to enter a combat unit is one thing, but in the end its always up to SAF where they want to put him. As long as he does well etc he should be fine but anything can happen when it comes to vocation
At last he went to 6 SIR Mono intake. I hope he stays positive throughout the 2 years and subsequent 10 cycles further in the future.

Why confinement period differs between SAF and SPF?

For SPF enlistees, they are confined for 1 weekend and only and book out the following friday.

For SAF enlistees, they are confined for 2 weekends before booking out the following friday.

Not sure SCDF enlistees. Anyone care to fill in?

For sure SAF enlistees feels the more suay as compared to SPF enlistees.

Not to mention the SAF stay-in personnels, 24hrs-5 days being scrutinise by superiors. Reveille at 5am, 5BX - Mon to Fri, for 2 years.

I guess SPF NSF should be grateful that they are not subjected to regimental life almost 24/7 like SAF NSF.

Not to mention reservist patrol orchard road during Christmas or Geylang Serai Bazaar during the fasting month.

Really consider good life sia..

Same NS obligations, different experience.

Cause different requirements? You don’t obligate the same thing for the sake of it

I ask my 2 nephews who enlisted on 14 Aug. 1 SPF the other SAF.

SAF one still stuck in Tekong. Further more SAF one cannot even charge hp to power outlet. SPF one no problem charging hp.

“Actually the confinement period is not really an operational requirement.

We know it.”

Referring to this

I agree with you. If we can choose, I will pick SPF.
