Apologies if this has been asked before, but I didn’t have much luck getting genuine suggestions on Red**t, so I decided to create an account here to ask for help.

Context:
I have a mediocre PC that I bought during peak covid 2019.
current PC:
  • CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
  • Motherboard: Asrock B450M Pro4
  • RAM: Adata XPG Spectrix D60 16GB DDR4 3200
  • GPU: MSI GTX 1660 Super Ventus X5 6GB
  • Storage: Lexar NM610 NVMe M.2 500GB
  • PSU: FSP Hyper K 80+ 420W
  • Case: Techware Alpha M
  • Wi-Fi/Bluetooth: Intel BT+Wi-Fi 6 AX200

Additional notes:
  • I’m not upgrading any peripherals.
  • I currently use an AW2723FD monitor (1440p, 240Hz, 1ms) and intend to mostly game at 1440p, along with some light productivity (e.g., DaVinci Resolve).
  • I’ve read mixed reviews about prebuilt PCs, with some users advising against brands like Aftershock and Invader, while others recommend them. Since I’m a PC noob, I’m not confident in building a PC from scratch or going to SLS to buy components.
Considering:
  • Budget: SGD 2K
  • Prebuilt PC: Invader PC M67
  • Ideally, I’d like to go for a 7800X3D + 9070XT build, but I’m unsure if that’s feasible within my budget.

Any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated!

generally if u ownself diy the costs nowadays also same as invaderpc/aftershock, might even be slightly more

u could also try directly asking the sls shops or carousell system builders too to see who has the best price

say invaderpc/aftershock has this and this can u match or better?

Why not 5070ti and 7700? Prebuilt should be ok with good after sales support. I can only speak for aftershock but their prices are not the cheapest, overall invader might have better value

i recommend top up little go for 7800x3D and 9070 or 9070XT if you prefer all red team components.

you have no mentioned on the most play game title and at 1440p cpu still have significant impact while you are unlikely be someone frequently upgrading system just go for once consider best cpu that is now still witin marginal budget range.

Modern game especially those on release in soon future will need a strong v-cache cpu to support.

yea, I did try putting the parts into PCPartPicker and manually priced each component based on a few price lists provided on HWZ. It seems to be a bit more expensive.

oh i never thought of doing this, should give it a try. worst case they just ignore my messages.

I've seen some reviews mentioning that the RTX 50-series doesn't perform that well, and when it comes to cost-to-performance, AMD often seems like the better choice. From what I understand, the 50-series leans heavily on AI frame generation, while AMD offers stronger raw performance.

I'm not too clear on the exact differences between the Ryzen 7700 and 7800X3D, but since I'm aiming to somewhat futureproof the CPU, the 7800X3D feels like the better long-term option.

Also, I'm a bit wary of some of the component manufacturers Aftershock uses like Palit, Zotac, and their OEM cooling. I’d also prefer to avoid ASRock since I’m currently using one of their mobo and haven’t had the best experience.

That said, Aftershock's after-sales support is really solid, so that’s the main reason I did not rule them out completely.

One good side about green > Red/Blue - They release patches way faster than even intel who do CPU chips

if you dont take advantage of sales and vouchers, going prebuilt route is good instead of diy. plus u can add $100 for onsite warranty.
claiming warranty once is more than enough to cover the headache if something spoils.

for cpu since its only 1440p gaming, just get 7700 or 9700. dont need waste money on x3d unless you get top end card to squeeze out performance.

In terms of card, intel b580 and amd rx 7800xt offer better value for performance. However you should still consider nvidia for the option to play with ai. you can get 5060ti 16gb or 5070ti 16gb. Even though these are not 4k cards, the option to play at 4k (when you eventuslly upgrade your monitor) is possible with dlss 4.

do research on dlss 4, its worth the $100~200 premium over amd. Also if you were to try ai on amd cards, it is much slower and many software are not compatible due to lack of cuda cores.

The money you saved can be used to get a 1440p oled gaming monitor

There are new findings for the intel B580. But with his budget should be no issues for what they promised in terms of CPU.

There will be user who use 5600G with B580 - incompatible tech. There will be 24gb of the B580 coming out soon [unverified]

generally reddit (not just singaporeans) ASRock mobo often run into hardware issues, BIOS update problems, and some weird compatibility stuff etc

is my current case bad or good. i have no idea about cases, there are just so many brands and models out there, it’s hard to tell. I don’t really care about aesthetics, but I do want something with good airflow and ventilation.

Tecware is more than good and they do damm budget mini itx cases. is more like you can pick something micro ATX.

Recent trends is all about transforming ATX from workstation design. Silverstone started it first

if you go prebuild, all the aftershock options are good place to start with. but i recommend tiny cases for something different. dont worry about airflow for mid range pc

all motherboard for ryzen 7000 had issues initially, it is already fixed after 3 years. personally using asrock for 2 years with 7700.

what you may not be used to is long boot times with ram training. if you havent use pc for a while the first post takes almost one minjt. after than its the usual

I might consider lowering my expectations and go for a 7700 with a 5070 Ti, if that combo fits within my budget. Honestly, any upgrade would be a huge leap from my current setup. Do you think 2K SGD is a decent budget, or would it be better to stretch it to 2.5K? For context, I don’t plan to upgrade every 2–3 years, more of the type to use the PC for as long as it lasts.

Part of the budget can go to [For productivity softwares or dota 2]

for Storage: Lexar NM610 NVMe M.2 500GB

The rest is on your own.

Right, I forgot to mention that I mostly play Forza, FIFA, NBA, Marvel Rivals, Valorant, CSGO, and MHW
based on this game listing and of your high refresh rate monitor what is your expectation on fps ?

most user choose AMD platform for gaming because they can choose to upgrade better CPU in future without need to spending more on the new mobo & cpu compare to Intel. (majority end up with x3D cpu eventually for better game performance reducing gpu overhead)
