Thinking of getting a car and have $30K to spare.

Been sourcing and quite vexed. Need Edmwer car sexperts advice.

Is it better to get a brand new $100K+ Certato with $30K downpayment and then mthly installment of $1K for 7 yrs
OR
get a used Certato (yr 2011 - 2012 5yr COE car) with 4 to 5yrs COE left with $30K cash without any loan ?

I think you need a car if you have many stuff / people to carry around. Or you need to go to more than 2 locations a day. If only 1-2 trips a day, you are better off with grab from $$ point of view.

If MT, really can consider. Probably just need to change the clutch kit.

If AT, you probably need to overhaul the trans and gearbox right after you buy.

Korean cars no point get brand new.. used ones still in good condition.. provided dealer den play u out with a lemon car..

Be debt free in such economic condition.. Earn more and get a brand new conti later..

Used car could be the obvious choice but really up to your luck. Sometimes the car is chui, and you might spend more to repair the wear and tear. It is always recommended to send to your trusted workshop for inspection.

Overall, you need to lower your expectation when buying a used car. Some buyers are really unrealistic when getting used cars. Used car will sure have some problem one way or another and some aesthetic imperfection. Just don’t set too high expectation when buying one, so long the major components (Eg. Gearbox) are good. Simple wear and tear components can be changed, you can either ask dealer to replace or change outside. Do your price comparison, if the price is too good to be true, it is likely not true.

But If you could have stable income and can afford. I will recommend a brand new car. It will give you much less problem and maintenance headache.
