35C mb temp on load: normal?

Doing CPU burn test, avconv on my 6700K oc to 4500Mhz, on load is 79-80C CPU temp (1.424v CPU Core), all 8 threads at 100%. Radiator fan went to max 2100RPM.

But my mb temp is only 35C according to AI Suite, consistent.

Is this correct or normal?

Because mb temp is only 35C, my chassis fans stay at 780-800RPM.

Is not that I worry, is that my chassis fan is linked to mb temp via CHA_FAN mb connector, and cuz the mb temp is 35C, it's not spinning faster to help the case take in more air...

Not an asus mobo owner, but can you peg your fan curve control to use the CPU temp as its thermal prod via bios or so?

Thanks that's a good idea, had to explore abit to find that option.

Question: if there's a GPU there (currently using onboard gfx), which setting should I use to more accurately go by GPU temp: CPU or MB?

If can't then I'll stick with CPU since usually CPU will load if GPU is loaded.

If the options are there, try both out run your typical stuff. Can theorize how its going to turn out but nothing beats actual comparisons.

For the basics, it'll likely be able to peg the fan speeds to CPU temps.

35c is normal. My cores ran at about 75c and Mobo ran at 35c during stress test. Your vcore at 4.5ghz is kinda high though.

Thanks, it's 31C on idle. CPU temp is 31C and 0.880v on idle then jumps to 1.376-1.408v on light load, & 1.424v and 80C on full load. No idea what's normal or not really.

I'm using the full sized version pro gaming not the itx version you using

vrm temp is 50-51 when cpu full load over long period stress test

don't understand what vague term "motherboard temp" you referring to
in hwinfo64 software there are a few different data points for motherboard ... some never change at all forever low 30s

yes its "normal" in dat i get the same, but dunno where the 35c mb sensor is... :s22:
by default, bios fan control is set to cpu not mb, iirc. if u set mb the fan will always be at low rpm (like u found out)

kiv the "cpu" sensor dat the bios fan control follows, i found is lower than the usual cpu cores temps at load by >10c; and at idle its higher by >5c
i marked it in brown. i suspect its the cpu socket temp on the mb, but guessing only
its temp range seems to be smaller than cpu cores temp ranges, so plan ur settings accordingly... :)

Motherboard Temp as listed in AI Suite & BIOS. It's the temp that governs the CHA_FAN2 PWM connector on my mb.

This might help. There is also a spreadsheet containing user results.
Thanks, interesting info. When I stress-test on 4.7Ghz Win10 crashed with watchdog error, so I dumbed it down to 4.5Ghz which is stable so I'm leaving it there. Could simply be that the itx board can't provide enough juice. The spreadsheet has way too many variables to make any meaningful sense of it tbh.

the spreadsheet is alright ... I can decipher it .... I followed that skylake thread on OCN forum from august 2015 to feb 2016

this one after run video encode for a short 2 minute

you can see motherboard temp is dumb .... same 32 d celcius no change

vrm climbed a few degree celcius

some error sensor reporting cpu 37-40 and 24-54 , obviously wrong

35deg is ok what.

Just peg ur fan speed to CPU lor. Probably the sensor placed at somewhere with good airflow hence the low temp.

BTW our ambient temp is about 30 deg liao. Pls don't compare to those Ang moh country where the temps are low

Motherboard 35 sounds alright for me. Did you face any issue at ard this temp?

This can be achieve by turning on aircon with temperature set to 23 degree with cool mode whenever you switch on the computer. And voila... "Ang Moh" ambient temperature!

Seriously, if worry of meltdown, just don't overclock.
