this is sad.. but this is also true story for alot asian people it's part of the culture.. always think not enough.. say scare not enough for retirement etc etc keep working keep saving.. but most of the time.. many pass away with alot money left...

so.. money you dont spend. Others will spend for you. Money you not spending/using... its just more number in the account.

This is quite a sad case, because most members here already understand that the real driver behind many heart attacks is not cholesterol, but metabolic health.

Cholesterol has been over-focused on for too long, while deeper metabolic breakdown can continue silently in the background.

The issue is not that metabolic damage is undetectable, but that it is usually not picked up by basic population-level screening, including standard polyclinic checks.

That is why some people may still appear “fine” on routine screening, while their metabolic health has already been declining quietly for years or even decades, sometimes until the damage becomes difficult or irreversible.

This is why I wanted to FIRE. I saw some old uncles around me, finally retire then relaxing and enjoying themselves, but they are so lao kok kok and unhealthy, I thought what's the point? Plus I myself was experiencing my health and fitness declining, so I told myself I don't want to be like them. And after I quit my job, I found out that a colleague who retired at 67 around the same time I left had died a few months later of cancer.

Just like my friend, who had no symptoms or pain at all. He was fortunate that his brother kept encouraging him to go for a heart screening because of their family history of heart disease. During this year’s screening, he was immediately advised to undergo a bypass after it was found that his artery was already 95% blocked.
