For those interested, the 1TB should be good as gaming drive consideration of the price for now from Amazon SG

Just try activated my 860 Evo 2TB sata SSD performance mode and the benchmark in Samsung Magician looks amazing

Samsung Evo 2TB Performance Benchmark.jpg

Edit: updated benchmark screenshot for better comparison.

Tested in Storage Benchmark the performance improved by 32% compare to original reading of "1168".

not qualify for gaming drive?
It's a QLC drive. Fast as long as it's mostly empty and you aren't writing past it's SLC cache.

Edit: Only 960GB is TLC? But lower endurance and lower overall speeds, weird. Get at least their Blue series for a game drive bah. This one more for mass storage.

Very messy now from WD. 960GB in the video above is QLC. Somemore SN550 new version also like SN350 now. Better get SN570.

Momentum cache uses your ram as a buffer, you aren't measuring your true ssd speeds. Unless all your game files happen to be in the cache when it loads, you aren't going to see as much of a benefit.

may i know is there a way to improve crucial ssd performance?

I got 32GB ram for now enough for the buffer of gaming purposes?

when I test cyberpunk (installed on this crucial SSD) just now I do notice increased of 2GB in RAM usage.

Crucial MX 300 1TB SMART.jpg

Anyone know if the Storage Executive data is reliable example for my crucial MX300 above?

9k hours still have 99% life time as gaming drive?

The test is actually not meaningful. If you look at the tests, tests 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7, is not going to make a significant difference as long as you are using a good SSD. There are already a lot of real world testing showing the difference in game load times is negligible. Recording in 1080p is unlikely to need that much of a bandwidth too. The main ones impacting the score is likely game move and installing game tests where the high sequential transfer rate will benefit and not something that people do often.

(y) very sensible remarks.

Care to share more what do you think is a good SSD by your experience, i remember you have first hand experience few brand ssd in real life?

Recently there have been lots of news regarding brand changing of their ssd controller, care to share your view on this?

I feel there are too many brands out there offering SSDs nowadays. While it is good for us, i.e. we have more options, however, there are some manufacturers with inconsistent SSD performance even though they may be using the same hardware under the hood. Kingston is one brand that I will avoid because previous SSDs don't seems to offer performance that is consistent or close to competitors even with fairly similar hardware. That to me points to potential firmware issues. For me, good does not equate to MLC, TLC or QLC. Neither does it relates to DRAM or DRAMless SSDs. People buying QLC or DRAMless SSD should ideally know the pitfalls, and thus, buying because it is in their budget, and/or, meet their usage needs. They are not cutting edge SSDs, but still faster than a mechanical drive by a significant margin.

Changing of SSD parts seems to be common these couple of years. Even though I think it is a despicable move, it seems to be unavoidable. Despicable because they are swapping out parts, that are not like for like in performance, but is always a downgrade. They are getting away with it because they are advertising these storage as "up to XXXX speed". And because nobody is holding them accountable, more and more manufacturers are doing it. The supply shortage may be one of the cause, but I believe another reason is to use this as a way to reduce cost. At the end of the day, I would say buy if you need it. Its been 2 years since this supply issue started, and with all the negative news on shortage here and there, increasing cost here and there, I am also getting tired looking at hardware now. The last few sales, I did not buy a single PC component like I used to during year end.

Bingo, using piece of technology is to enjoy what you are getting, now this is abit off topic. It seems to me there are a branch of peeps got influence of what they see or watch on reviews in social media platforms. Most can't resist the temptation as most are addicted in getting the latest and coolest pc component, but if you sit back and think about it, is that necessary? Example, some already own a AMD 5000 series processor but yet still change to Gen 12th, same goes to SSD, drives like the SN750 is fast enough and when SN850 are out, people rush to get it. Gen 4 speed is at 5000 and now improve with 7000, if you use it practically to generate income, I have nothing to say on both processor and SSDs, but if you are buying just to test and show stats.. that I must say, a very illogical and impractical usage. I rather make good use of what I have purchased last and use it till the end of line before moving to the next platform.

a very good example, if you fall into this category and to follow in get newer technology based on influencer

What if you get it and face issues and such? Plus right after a month of usage, the influencer starts to warn you about stuff.

He can easily swap things out as he is a content creator / influencer, has abilities to do quick switch..
but for those using it, you are stuck and sucking your own thumbs. You suppose to enjoy your new hardware and not having the hardware giving you headaches. you pay to enjoy and not pay to be upset and get annoyed with.

pardon me. last but not least, Gen 12 suppose to gear up from PCI-E 4.0 to 5.0, no point using DDR4 and also no point getting DDR5 now. If I am about to change platform, which I am not, I rather wait till DDR5 is stable and then get the whole new platform which I can truely enjoy.
