where did u see that Toshiba L5450 uses backlit leds? I can't seem to find these type of technical info..

I think L5450 is edgelit leh..

Seems the backlit LED is the higher end L9450 which is capable of 4K upscaling, if I didn't have a budget, I would go for that..

Last checked, seems there's extra charge for wall-mounting - $100 for Sony and about $60 for Samsung.

Toshiba and Panasonic have free wall-mounting.

Ah you are right. The backlit LED is only for the L9450 series. I assumed it was for the Pro Theatre series (which includes the L5450) but upon scrutinizing the catalog, it proved otherwise. My bad.

Hi Guys,

I'm planning to get this Philips 40" Full HD LED TV 40PFA4509/98 - Lion City Company Online Store for my room, main purpose is to use it to watch shows and movies from my com. But I've got a couple of questions before making my purchase.

1) Is this TV recommended ? (not planning to get any smart features what not, just a nice display with HDMI Input will do)

2) This TV can achieve 100hz, if I were to hook up my com to it and play movies directly from my com, will it achieve 100hz too? or just 60hz?

Thank you for your inputs guys. :)

looking for 55" 4K TV recommendations

Hi I'm in the market for a no-frills 55" 4K TV with the following attributes:

1. DVB-T2 ready (tuner built-in)
2. optical output (for connecting to my soundbar)
3. preferably matte display

That's all. I don't need any 3D/curved/OLED/SMART apps-thingy.

Any recommendations? & I have some questions too:

Qn1. are IPS panels still rare for TVs? I saw only LG aggressively advertising this attribute while I can't find a mention of this on Sony TVs?

Qn2. are file (be it photo/video) playback via USB thumbdrive a common feature as well? If so, is USB3.0 support common?

Qn3. are matte displays very rare? I find the glossy displays absolutely horrendous in terms of displaying every single lamp in the store.

Qn4. do Sony TVs use a non-conventional wall-mounting solution as compared to the other brands?

Qn5. Do the delivery & setup guys allow the owner to test the display (& reject if faulty) before they leave the site?

Qn6. Are there any brand(s) to avoid? I understand like, Toshiba is exiting the TV business, so I probably won't get that. But on the other hand, what do the big brands (LG, Samsung, Sony) offer over Philips & Panasonic?

Any recommendations for a ~46" to 48" LED TV for my living room? Budget around 800 to 1K. Mainly use to watch TVB dramas, live sports and occasional gaming on PS3.

TIA:s13:
