It is useless because the % of 21 year old vs a 34 year old not foreseeing themselves getting married makes a lot of difference.

If the % is high when 21 and tapers down when 34, it is still okay.

If the % is low when 21 and high when 34, jialat to the max.

A breakdown the age groups and a comparison of the expectation may be more useful.

This is especially so now when most of them are highly educated. The more educated someone is, the more demanding they will be.

Once a girl's demands are too high, they will find it difficult to get a partner.

Back in those days, girls would still settle for less as there is true love. Nowadays, such cases are very rare. It's "true love" for money.

The cause of all this is partly due to the greedy govt too. If things are more affordable and the population isn't as high as before, life would be more pleasant and less stressful.

However, a recent analysis from Singapore’s Department of Statistics (DOS) shows that falling birth rates now result primarily from increasing rates of singlehood, rather than from couples choosing to be child-free.

Data that my colleagues and I collected in the Singapore Perspectives 2024 (SP2024) survey helps to explain what is going on. It found that 40 per cent of women between 21 and 34 years old do not foresee themselves getting married.
