Received and hook up the Sony x800 uhd player.

I tried uhd 4k bluray batman vs superman playback on it and I find the pictures quality no difference from blu ray viewing from my old sony 790 bluray player. Dunno what I have missed on the setup?

Need to set my brava tv hdmi setting to enhanced. But my hdmi cable should be probably the old 1.4 type where once I set to enhanced, it is unstable, frequent blank screen and no sound to AVR. Need to Get a 4k hdmi High speed to test.

Can get Elecom HDMI 2.0 cable, such cable are label as premium cable.
This is the cheapest and reliable HDMI 2.0 cable that most can buy.
Won't recommend buying any overpriced HDMI cable like
Monster and etc.

From the time being. I need to set my sony tv setting on hdmi at "standard" mode. When playing normal blu ray disk on 4k uhd player with enhanced hdmi setting. It is totally blank. However on normal setting both bluray and uhd bluray can play.

Anyone knows does Oppo UDP205 have the same image enhancement of the older version 105D?

As the majority of Oppo buyers move away from DVDs and such, successive generations of Oppos have poorer upscaling function.

If you mean UBP-X800 player, the power is not universal
since it is hard wired into the player.
You will need a step down transformer for it.

Unlike Sony 1080p Blu ray player, most are using
step-down transformer which is a external power supply.

Besides UBP-X800 model there is the UBP-X1000ES.

Even that you need a step down transformer.
I am still waiting for local release, just hope to see either one
here.

But the ES one if release locally would hit near $1k mark.
ES line are Sony premium line and they are not cheap models.

Thanks for replying. I was checking because I have the impression that if Amazon states that it can ship the appliance to SG, it will normally means that the appliance works with SG power voltage. Apparently that's not the case.

I had the previous gen 105D....the DarbeeVision does make the video looks sharper and more detail in compare to normal bluray player played through for example the ps4 , or the oppo's inbuilt VRS ClearView video processor really does it's job but when looking at the 205 the DarbeeVision is gone...and it doesn't state on web whether it have inbuilt image video processor as well....so hesitate to pull the trigger of the new one....

Can get locally at $599.
US is cheaper but no warranty as well

Hi all,

I hold off to buy the Sony UBP-X800 player when Amazon was selling USD149 with free shipping to SG. Because I read some reviews said the player will freeze or go blank screen after short period of play. Need to do hard reset to recover. Return the unit and change a new unit still have same issue. Can owner of this imported player verify this claim and issue? Thanks!

ES line are not cheap so if this eventually sold in SG.
Expect to pay more than $1k.
I in the midst of checking with Sony SG but I doubt they
will consider.

Mainly as trend of buying CD here in SG is dying.
Only those HTS or emphasis on picture and sound quality
than will pick up a copy of blu ray.

Update

Sony replied to my enquiry about this player.
They mention they would consider so it is not confirm
whether will they bring it or not.

$1K price mark I doubt majority could afford.
Unless if somehow if they decide to bring this ES model in
as well as X800 than probably have a player to cater for
those on budget.

Not say how big but the wattage of the step down transformer you should consider.
At the most 100 - 200 watt step down transformer you should look for.
