Valid for a few days only, actually every mth they tend to give out this 100 voucher, use it to offset the cost, you can bring it down further by using cc and q10 gift cards. Don't worry if really want to get this, just asked around, bros here will help

Just ordered my Sony UBP-X800 from Amazon US at US$282 inclusive of shipping fees...tired of waiting for Sony SG to bring this in. Btw has anyone managed to source for a good step down transformer? Any advice would be most welcome!

Well as usual SG is slow to adopt new tech, so you have to buy from UK / USA, via Amazon. There is no region coding for UHD discs. Currently they come with the BR disc too, which is region coded.

Because it’s sensitive equipment like a blu ray player. If the frequency of the current is not pure, it may screw up the player.

So better to get the AU version which doesn’t need to use transformer.

A lot of factors especially if you are connecting to electrical power extension.
That is why I put the idea of importing 4K UHD from US on hold.
How to eliminate?

I think first if you are using cheap type of step down transformer
like those directly plug into power socket ought to try
get a better one which are those rather heavier type.

Wattage also another thing as there tools to calculate, at least 100 watts
for the step down transformer.
Still waiting for Sony reply waiting that X800 be here or not.

Yup, so anyone using US players with cheap adapters? Can confirm if they are working fine with no problems?

Anyway Australia price should be about the same or cheaper, if can get tax refund at airport

Not sure what is the problem you are talking about. I am using a 300W adapter from Sim Lim tower ($30). So far I didn’t see any problem. The bluray player is not so sensitive la. Australia is definitely better if you don’t mind the bluray region. Definitely better because the transformer is built in

I decided to purchase the 100W stepdown transformer from the Home Fix store instead of the one recommended by Norman, cost about $35 if I'm not wrong, and it works fine with the player, so far no stability issues.

I forgot to mention that the day after I ordered the player, Amazon dropped their price to US$218 (it was $248 when I ordered), so I emailed them to ask for a refund of the difference, and incredibly they agreed to it! this player also comes with 2 free 4k titles which you can redeem if you have a US address, so it was a really good buy.

Any idea how to claim the 2 free titles? Can we send disc to borderlinx then ship over? US$218 is amazing price. Lol! Less than $300 and no GST. Lol!
