Return to hotel for evening cocktails at executive lounge

Yeah I agree. Unless you have some compelling reasons to attend the cocktail in the hotel, if not, food outside are much better if you know where to go.

Also, I don't know if around 6pm will be rush hours for Tokyo (probably not too bad since most salarymen will work till much later), so getting into train may/may not be a problem (need to check with experts in this forum on rush hour). IMHO every night moving back to hotel for a cocktail party is kind of troublesome.

For one of the nights after dinner:

1. Nishi Shinjuku side/Takashimaya?
2. Roppongi for a drink.

Suggest Day 4: Move Ginza/skytree to after lunch and night (I am a night scene person). Then you have one whole day for other areas like akiba, Asakusa, Ueno/Ameyoko, Harajuku, Akihabara etc. or combination of two.

how about adding Asakusa to day 4, since it is around the same area as skytree. and since u are visiting ginza, u may want to visit tsukiji market for sushi before heading to ginza as it is within walking distance.

day 5, which i assume is 13/10, is a sunday. u can visit meiji shrine and harajuku. harajuku is very lively on sundays, with cosplayers and performances. akihabara is another place that is happening on sunday.

alternatively, u can spend the whole afternoon and evening at odaiba. lots to do there, shopping, sightseeing, exhibition centre etc

Find a weekend afternoon for ginza. The roads will be closed to traffic. Buy coffee and sit in the table in the middle of the road just to watch the crowd go by.

IIRC japan has the most number of michelin stars - and you wanna stay in the hotel lounge? Unless it's work related, i'd say just eat out. just go into any izakaya or stick to the better known ones. Yamachan serves very good tebasaki (fried chicken wings, nagoya style). Tori-dori has not-bad yakitori. Dunno if there's a ichiran outlet in shinjuku but should have lah. Or perhaps you have special dietary needs?

If you're a shopping person just spend an hour or two at yodobashi camera, although it's all the way on the other side.

If you wanna venture out, jiyugaoka has plenty of cafes but it's mainly an OL place. My wife and I always make it a point to go there and spend an afternoon just chatting over tea

Is it still worth visiting the tokyo tower after visiting the tokyo sky tree? I cannot stand fish smell, i went to the market once and i almost died so the fish market is a no-no for me.

I put 6pm back at hotel cocktail because our hotel is located at Shinjuku, which can link to many places, so just nice can go back to hotel rest awhile before continuing at night.

And i'll probably be at takashimaya side on day 1 if not i'll be at shibuya/harajuku.

meiji shrine is not in asakusa. its actually nearer to your hotel around yoyogi/harajuku area. can consider popping by when visiting shibuya.

anyway if you are going to koishikawa, its right next to Tokyo Dome City which has lots of cosplayers on a weekend. The 60m high roller coaster is also finally up after being down for a year or so.

Disney is worthwhile I feel.

As for this part of your itinerary:

consider Ginza first, then Sensoji/Asakusa then Sky Tree. Makes more sense in terms of transport.

Tsujiki has sushi dai/daiwa. Long queue, but you get really well made sushi with really fresh ingredients...

Ueno market has several stalls selling dons with various sashimi toppings

there are lots of cheapo eats in Tokyo, you just have to know where to look. #TOKYOCHEAPO

you can also look out for seasonal specials, with the arrival of each season certain fruits and vegetables will be in abundance or taste especially good. Food establishments will make dishes with these ingredients at lower prices.

There is also a wave of "extra large" foods going on still. For like mostly 50yen more, you get a real HEAP.

Disney theme park are more into kids, but if you are a Disney fan then you should go.
If you are a Gundam fan, the life-sized model is around the area in Odaiba, nearby Tokyo Disneyland.

If you want a real theme park, i suggest a day trip to FUJI-Q highlands!
They have previous world record holder rides and you get to see Mt. Fuji as well.
If I am not mistaken, it is around 1hr by train to go there.
I highly recommend the place! It was my best experience when I went to Tokyo!

Also, try to drop by Ueno before or after going to Asakusa since its along the way.
You will find a lot of cheap stuff there.

Harajuku is like an outdoor version of Bugis street.

Akihabara is the place to go for anime fans/otaku. Cute maids are all over the place!

Actually queues are only crazy during national hols. The last time I went in autumn it was pretty empty and together with we took all the rides.

I'm not into raw fish.. hopefully the sushi/food there suits me will try tsujiki if have time. really wanna try their sushi there!

Going for the sake of going.. All the way never go disneyland...very wasted mah.

anyhow Disneyland is worth going, the thrill rides may not be as intense as other theme parks but the whole park and everything else thrown in is worth the visit.

dun get confused with the full train map. just look at the simplified ones here:

basically u just need the Yamanote line to get to most places, except for asakusa (Ginza line) and odaiba (Yurikamome line)

T-Shirt prices are around Bugis prices as well. Ranging from S$5-25 when converted. In my opinion, the ones they sell there isn't really different from what you see here. But it is still worth the trip! Lots of cute Japanese girls all over the place!

On a side note, Shibuya109 womens is the place for some eye candy! LOL

For Ueno, its more of branded stuffs in a street market style. They have uber cheap shoes/sneakers there! The difference from the Singapore price can go as much as $50. They have lots of food stalls there as well.
