It is not just about separating your food... Multi door fridge are supposedly more energy efficient in the long run... coz you only open the compartment that you need and not the whole left/top or right/bottom section... it reduced the amount of cold air escaped...

But then multi door fridge are usually bigger so naturally it used more energy...

Unless you have the need to have a large fridge... a smaller 2-3 door fridge might be better...

Convenient to take n organise ur things . Usually multiple doors capacity r not as big as 2/3 doors.

I mean in terms of physical size... usually multi doors are bigger in size than those 2-3 doors even if they have same capacity... and they dun usually comes in small sizes... while 2-3 doors fridge can range from very small to very big ones...

I think the one I had is the smallest 6 door Hitachi fridge that time... my kitchen cannot fit any bigger size one due to the raised platform they have for the fridge...

Actually I have a thought. Instead of looking for specific 6 door fridge, would it be more economical to buy 2 smaller fridges instead?

looking at getting 6 door fridge.

Toshiba RM593WE around $2.4K (made in China)
Panasonic NRF503GT $3K (made in Japan)
Mitsubishi B46GWP $3.2k (MADE IN JAPan)
Hitachi HWS480KS $3.2k (made in Japan)
HW540WS $3.5k (MADE IN JAPAN)

Which model would you go for ?
Is it worth to pay over $1K more for a Hitachi over Toshiba ? made in Japan quality really makes a big difference vs made in China ?
Hitachi and Mitsubishi is good

Few months a go i was in China need to buy fridge for someone. The seller is connected to this big shot i know so don't dare to cheat me and he taught me how to choose.

These fridges, must see where it needs to exhaust the heat out, it's normally at the side or back.
You need to measure more than whether it can fit in.
If there's not enough allowance for the heat to release, your fridge made from where also won't matter because it won't defy the physics of overheating.

The difference between the better brand like Haier and the rest is the bottom is made of thick solid frame. I forgot why but he says it matters a lot.
I think you look at the weight vs the size first, if the weight is somehow off by a lot, that one most likely thin out in the material which has an effect on its longevity.

If the machine has an ice maker, avoid. Ice maker is the first thing to spoilt and it kills the whole fridge. This is what i learned from those USA appliance repair videos.

The surface got three types iirc.
One is laminate on, and can come off, those are the cheapest version.
Another one is the metal is somehow more lasting, i forgot the reason.
Last is glass which is the easiest to maintain but i think glass is heavier, so it may affect the weight and you need to factor that in the weight reading.

For my house, the bomb shelter door is right in front of where the fridge is and when fully open, the bomb shelter door will hit the fridge. This means that the glass option is out as it could easily shatter

The choice for Made in Japan fridge is either Hitachi or Mitsubishi.

The sales person told me they are not much different except for the Mitsubishi model the fridge compartment is insolated so the smell from the freezer will not go into the ice.

Notice that you exclude Korean brands LG and Samsung.

Thought those brands very pushy in sales?

Is 6 doors better than 5 doors + much better than 4 doors?

Why 6 doors?

Japanese got a psycho thing about multiple doors. It turns them on.
Actually also don't know leh, any difference between 5 & 6 doors ?
never look at Samsung or LG think they don't have 6 doors, only made in Japan one have ?

Mine was still as good as new for 13yrs before we donated to recycling company when we moved house.

4 and wife don't even cook one meal in 3 days
Since you guys don’t really do much cooking, get a smaller fridge? I cook at least twice a day (but there’s only two of us), am using the smallest Mitsubishi MIJ model now.
