This is the best settings I could get without going past the 90s using Intel Burn Test on Super High for around an hour. Gaming I am not seeing temps cross 65 degrees so far even on Witcher 3 that really pushes the CPU as well.

Totally stable and no AVX offset. I could probably get 5.1Ghz or 5.2Ghz with some AVX Offset but I think this 1.325V is relatively low for 24/7 for 5.0Ghz.

Sometimes I am confused how some people use below 1.3V and realized some jokers use extremely high LLC which spikes voltages way past even 1.4V during stress testing. I think as with most boards using the 2nd last option is safest. In the case of Asus boards, I think most use Level 5 or 6 only.

3DMark Timespy Run with CPU and 2080 Ti with only Power and Thermal Limits maxed out. No overclock on the GPU as still need some time to learn how to do that.

I am sure the chip will face degradation really quickly if the temps are really high.

Doubt it. TjMax for all these CPUs are 100 degrees.
It is high voltage and spikes that kills/degrades the CPU not high temps.
Besides, these high temps are only on AVX stress testing. During gaming, it does not cross 65 degrees. Unless you are day in day out stress testing and running the CPU at very high voltage and high LLC's, there is nothing to worry. If anything, your PSU and Board will give way first before the CPU.

The 8C is actually spec'd at 193A IccMax. Of course the datasheet assumes full vdroop (absence of llc).
With the datasheet operating ranges (and mb vendor recommendation) you can have a good risk assessment for OC. But with the datasheet numbers there's a good chance you can turn it into a 200W TDP CPU while maintaining long term reliability (also well within Raja@asus recommendation).

It's still overall a good measure to set your own custom long & short duration power limits/tdp to suit your rig's cooling capability within the oc tdp guideline rather than leaving it at the 4killowatts max (aka unlimited) you can set within this platform's inbuilt safety limiters.

Wow this is definitely ahead of my overclocking knowledge. Raja is highly reliable for his posts and if he says so, I'm inclined to believe him. I've read many reviews this time around and it seems Asus did not really beef up their VRMs compared to the Gigabyte when overclocked. But if that's the case then the 9900k is already easily above twice the TDP! 🤔

Gigabyte boards are very good and reliable but for overclocking prowess and advancement, you can't beat Asus. Even their bios layout is far neater. Like I mentioned I only got Gigabyte again cause I had superb experience with my 6700K and Z170 from Gigabyte. I only sold it off this year since 2015 and it was very overclocked on that one.

I got Gigabyte because Asus boards apparently install a lot of bloatware in the Z390 generation

Can agree on ATX front giga did well with hardware (even given a pass by hlots guru :s34:)

Personally I moved from the Asus M8I to Gaming-ITX/ac before the large cost cutting on hardware came.
No regrets at all, after what they did to the ITX line refreshes (only pro gaming aka strix).
From true 6+2 phase IR3553s + 10K Nichicon caps -> Strix z270i/Z370i 6+2 inefficient and budget 6+2 onsemi + 5K Apaq taiwanese caps -> currently Z390I 3+2 phase fake double using budget onsemi + 5k apaq.

Far better boot times, 60A intersil sps. Haven't seen idle time instability (certain uefi revisions on M8I I've seen that..) as well even quite heavily overclocked and I don't off my PC. Don't regret making the switch at all.

I went to the Aorus Master due to VRM implementation as well. Not that I am going to overclock now, but the buffer is attractive.

The rise and fall of anything when you think you're up there and get too complacent with everything. Every motherboard today isn't perfect. There are pros and cons and you gotta see if the cons are something you can live with.

With more cores and Intel pushing the 14nm+ envelope, I settled for the 9700k cause the platform after this would most likely be a major overhaul which includes PCIE 4.0 and a few other advancements in CPU if Intel is able to get their thumbs off their asses and get 10nm out. Still, 3 years from today would be a great time to settle into 10nm + PCIE 4.0 GPUs with some sort of maturity.

Yes! I was irritated with this. Out of nowhere, launching Overwatch, I got an Overlay for Sonic Radar 3 which when I researched, was supposed to show you exactly where the enemy is based on the audio information that it receives.

Blizzard is very strict on such overlays. Asus is trying to get me banned!
And looking at my installs, it wasn't even in the list.
Luckily I got Revo Uninstaller Pro to use hunter mode and directly target and delete all traces of that Sonic Radar 3 and Sonic Studio 3 that they also installed without me knowing.

Like As if I asked for bloatware to be installed in SECRET. Disturbing. :vijayadmin:
